friend, no need to be agitated about this. we are just talking 😁 peace

German law indeed does NOT prohibit wearing a rep. But they can confiscate it and the brand can sue. trying to sell it is illegal

In France it is much stricter

there is no EU regulation

Here's to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They're not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can't do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.

🤣

as long as you give your money to us, of course. Buy our products. Often.

Way off topic, but VSF, for example, does have fundamentally similar market position to Apple in respect to customer loyalty and perception

Great thread.

To clarify, I’m not worried about being stoped on the street or at immigration and being questioned about my Cartier, rather just the concept that to own a rep at all is illegal in France. I can see the logic , especially there, as these brands do function like royalty.

it's rather logical if you look at it from France's perspective

we no longer have the industrial muscle to compete against China or the USA

What we have is heritage and history, embodied by Brands. So this is strategic to protect

I should add that to a degree, I think it's legitimate, as much as our world is governed by physics and nature, it's also infused with beauty and at the heighest, I think that's what fashion attempts to glorify. Obviously it can get myopic and self centered but there is an undeniable good within it too and it makes sense to protect.

Oh. It definitely does, Revolution anyone?
Paris is a great city. But under the current mayor, it's a disaster I must say. I don't go in the city much anymore myself.

Now It is wrong to say that Paris is unwelcoming. That's untrue. But yes, there is a clear culture gap with a certain segment of tourists depending on their behaviour.

Most French service providers have a rather low tolerance to "karens" even if there is money to be made.

My Girlfriend lives in Bastille and I may be moving in the coming few months into the city. I found really quite welcoming to be honest over the months I've spent in the past and do look forward to getting to know it, even if it's only for a few years.

Whenever I read over my postings it reminds me of a drunk gorilla on a typewriter. I really hate iPhone keyboards. For all those who also care about grammer and style, I’m sorry.

Is there a way to edit text on here?

In Norway since we're outside of the EU we're are allowed to wear, buy and sell reps of anything domestically as long as it's not done "i næring" which translates to something like doing it to earn money. Very much in the spirit of this forum I would say.

Customs will still confiscate your rep if they discover it and send it back though but it doesn't come with a fine or any legal repercussions. I got a rep stopped a couple of weeks ago and I got a letter from customs saying they need additional documentation before august 28th or they would return the package to the sender. Oh well.
Any idea how customs view franken pieces? Fellow Norwegian here considering pulling the trigger on a serious superfranken, but a bit afraid of spending that amount if there is a chance of not getting it.. :/ noen erfaring? :)

Customs is always a gamble, however small the risk is. If they stop it they will want VAT for the value and if you say it's a fake they might send it back or to the watch company in question. But as @Karbon74 says, if you travel there and bring it back home on the wrist there won't be an issue.

Bastille is a great neighbourhood, especially if you are into food!

The only place you could get in some trouble would be the airport, but as long as you don’t wear some very obvious fake clothe or are carrying a dozen watches in your bag you don’t risk really something. But yes it is illegal, especially if it’s a cartier :)

right, but Im not so sure Norwegian customs actually have the right to enforce this with transactions between private individuals.
