Thanks in advance,

one of my oldest reps has been in far more oceans and waters of this world than I'd care to count :) Panerai 111H "Little Hero" (that term may not mean anything to you folks but the old-timers know what little hero means)

submariner? planet ocean? they're built for this

wear it. swim well. enjoy your vacations :) they're built for this!

It depends, generally speaking most of the rep watches having the capability for beeing waterproof, but they are sometimes assembled badly or having tolerances which are causing leaks.

So I would suggest for checking them in a pressure tester, there are even DIY options for that or a watchsmith can do that

for us old timers bro :) for us old timers

ironically, that pam is pretty much my vacation watch.. I once took my Hublot and Panerai to the Bahamas.. one day we didn't even swim just hung out at the beach and bar by the beach and the damn thing fogged up INSIDE (didn't ruin the watch thank god) but I've learned my lesson well

only take watches "built for it" to the water.. LOL

Swim with mine all the time, but I pressure test them to be sure they are good.

don't judge why i have readily available wrist shots of a watch in the middle of the ocean -.- don't judge!

...and for reference, this was last summer in the Maldives :) so pretty "recent"

btw i forgot to add.. it's funny that you're worried about the watch when i learned the lesson that it's the STRAP that'll be the problem.. granted submariner and planet ocean's probably won't have leather straps to it but still..

:( had to say goodbye to that 1 particular strap.. water adventures in 3 bodies of water finally did it in.. cracked and dried and just had to get rid of it.

i'm sure panertisi who are far more knowledgeable than I are shaking their head going, "you took leather to the sea?!" or "..why didn't you waterproof the leather first!" etc..

yeah, oops

Yeah, I use either rubber or textile with Velcro for swimming. Didn't care for the feeling of wet leather after the swimming.

interesting about the textile.. I mean, technically.. wouldn't that get soaked wet though? or it dries quickly afterwards..?

rubber for sure but I don't have any rubbers haha only leather straps :) none of which are "waterproof" or waxed or anything now that I think about it..

I do have a custom blue hornback strap made a while ago.. I wonder if that can survive saltwater.. haha well, thankfully my next vacation is Japan :) so no oceans there I think

addendum cuz I can't edit post: :) I am absolutely laughing at the fact we got pictures of these reps in water.. buncha crazies haha

I mean it doesn't take long to snap it but on the chance someone does see us i'm betting they thinking "the hell is that fool doing taking pictures of his watch in the water.."

I just don't see the point of having a watch in water 😳

when you're wearing a watch on vacation and the water calls.. you don't think of "oh, i gotta take this off first!" :) you go have fun!

..and they're "built for this"

i understand the point everyone made of get it tested first etc.. but in this day and age i would hope that if one were to buy a submariner or planet ocean or any of the watches "built" for water adventures.. that they'd be ok taking a swim in it

one would hope :) but yeah get it tested for peace of mind i suppose but i think it'd be safe, specially those models

Don't believe him. I've seen videos of @Karbon74 diving off his 100' yacht into the Mediterranean
