Patek has been slowly losing the plot for a while now. What did we get. Smaller Cubitus in white gold, rolled out with very little fanfare (oops Thierry Stein released maybe making a 45mm chunker for his wrist was not the market target audience for Patek), the same old Calatravas, a new Travel Time... ok cool

8 day calatrava in a 11mm case... cool but nothing exciting

Sapphire dial retrograde perpetual calender... ugly

16mm 42mm perpetual minute repeater... i mean it's larger than a fucking Panerai. I do admit the back of the watch is very pretty though,.

And like all Patek releases you will have a rabid section of collectors to defend them
Oh wow, that's.... angry. You don't like Thierry, the man of the people?
Jokes aside, what did you expect? They already issued the Cubitus, they are spent. And in comparison to everyone else, there's more in PP's lineup than in anybody else's.

Maybe I'm jaded when talking about the Emperor of Watch Brands..... I have high expectations for them 😩

I think they are on a slippery slope. Family businesses need fresh blood at some point. Especially when leadership loses contact with reality... Thierry is 4th generation. I'm not much into their recent developments but I'm not aware of any notable hirings in their design or sales/marketing departments. If the Cubitus is all Thierry can do in 20 years of development...

What’s everyone’s opinion on the new white-gold, green dial Sprite? My first thought is,why? Did the world need a green/blackdestroGMT?

I wouldn't buy a green dial Sprite, but the Meteorite or Black Dial yes, purely because I don't have a Sprite in my collection of Rolex GMT's

I think it’s purely a market demand kind of thing. I feel like this year Rolex really pushed green-dial models probably due to that high demand reason. Wouldn’t be surprised to see the Hulk coming back next.
But for real… €50k for that green Sprite GMT??? o_O

Rolex saw adding green with gold on the John Mayer shot up the price of that model by a significant margin so now they're trying it with all watches.

I am so chuffed about the new BB Pro Polar. Enough so I actually put my name down for one with the AD. I love the size and even though it is thick, it wears smaller. The new five part bracelet aka Jubilee is nice.

Summary

Patek-meh
IWC-Meh
Rolex - 😴 green, red dials added, tiger eye is ok ish. Land dweller, the 1630 lives again with a new movement and premium price.

JLC-nice in general
Oris - Big crown looks nice and the colours are a nice add
Zenith - yet another pretty dress watch

New Rolex OPs are pretty chill I think, wife seems to love them.
Would love to check out a pistachio or beige dial. Anyone know the sizes these OPs will be released in?

I thought they were 36mm.
I think they come in all sizes

Also Rolex OP is now new reference 136x series. No longer 12x series. Lug shape refined slightly.

Old dials were sunburst silver and blue, i think now it's lacquered?

I'm liking this watch, never heard of this brand until someone else brought it up. Is there a reason this brand is not a larger player?

About half way down the page.

I'd love to see this repped. Not because I find it particularly cool or want one, but solely because it is insultingly expensive for an ETA 2824. Please please do this to bring these people back to reality.

Girard Perregaux is today mostly known for the Laureato. Except that model and a few others, they do high horology. The 3 arrow-shaped bridges are their signature. They have a share of less than 1% of the swiss watch revenues. They're part of the Sowind group together with Ulysse Nardin.

What a nice piece of history and write-up w/photos, that took time. Others should look at this article.
