I like the new old stock look of the WatchCo seamaster 300 (non big triangle, no date). What’s my best bet for something similar to it but basing it on a 2824?

I know of the B12 factory vintage models and the Vietnam models but not really looking to spend beacoups d’argent ($) on it and am satisfied with mostly accurate.

I am assuming I’d have to get a dial for a 2824 and relume it with white lume. Not really seeing the dial though.

Any thoughts or am I stuck with the standard replica vintage model?

This is what I was hoping for The set of images at the top. The non big triangle version. No date.

Well, a WatchCo will set you back quite a bit, but you're getting NOS all-gen, non-vintage though, as you know. But the real deal already went, depending on the rarity, well beyond AP Royal Oak retail territory in some extreme cases (I think those are the ones with actual documented military history)...

The standard non-factory one's that the TDs sometimes have stock on sale for less than $200 are rather mediocre. I have one and it's okay but nothing with a wow factor.

So every solution in between will vary in cost and, as you already know, can also be quite steep in necessary funds.

I looked into some of the available options, and I'm afraid for a better than mediocre rep, while keeping it cost efficient, you'd have to have decent watch making / modding skills yourself and make your own build. But even then I don't think there's a low cost route that will produce amazing results. 😆

I think the best rep builds I've seen so far were all heavily modded and none were out of the box solutions.

Probably go for one of these and redial it.

There is a rep, but the case is not great, more like the 165.014 rather than the 165.024

There is also the rep kit that is available on Etsy/eBay from time to time. You have to source an omega 565 movement though.

That is my backup but figured I’d give a decent try seeing if I could piece something together with what’s available.

@muggs in term of a helson and a redial at that point is it even worth spending $600 on the helson and modify the case vs buy the $200 rep and mod the case?
I like this. Could you mash up this case and the $199 Hont big triangle?
Toss on Milanese strap?

Better than the TD dial?

Hey, those two photos look awfully familiar. 😂 Nice before-after collage. 😆

I think the raffles dial is definitely better. For one, I like the marker color better. The bezel markers are white, the dial is yellow. And it has "Swiss Made" which the TD dial has not. Closer to gen...

I think I'll actually order one. And use the TD dial to test aging techniques.

The helson case is pretty close to the Seamaster case - it wouldn’t really need any mods apart from filling the drilled lugs. The bezel is good too.

The rep cases are all further from the Seamaster case. The closest is the eBay/etsy one, but you need an old Omega movement. These cases usually go for about £400-600 plus serviced movement ~£200.

The cartel cases are further away still, the case is symmetrical and they have straight lugs like the 165.014

It depends on how much it bothers you and how much work you’re prepared to do. I went with an eBay case and started collecting parts, ended up with mostly gen parts and no case, then found a gen for a reasonable price, now I’ve found a reasonably priced
Case and have ended up with gen date and no date.

Anyone know if the text, logo and what not is raised on the omega dials?

There is something out there in the ether called UV DTF printing. It’s essentially filmless decal transfer where only the ink is put onto a film and the film onto a surface. You press down on the film and pull it off and only the ink is transferred to a surface. Imagine a temp tattoo almost but black and white. It would be flat unless you did only white transfer on top of a black coated dial.

Excited to know about uv dtf transfers because you can get any color you want and can layer. The world is your oyster if you can find a vendor to print them. I have a vendor printing out some vintage rolex dials for me to try for gilt dials.
