Watch with built in compass ?

Folks i bought a neat little watch today from a co-worker. It is a watch with words Field & Stream on face with leather band. the cool part of watch is you lift up the dial and it has a full working compass under watch. Dial is on a hinge . I think they sold in the $100.00 range a few years ago. I wish I was smart enough to show a picture but not a computer wiz bang , maybe some one has one and can post picture here.

I am very surprised that Rolex or another watch company as far as I know never made a watch with a built in compass, ether on the watch or watch band ( I am sure some one had too , maybe some one can post some pictures ). It would make a good military watch and i think they could have won a military contract for this type of watch. what do you guys think of a watch with compass built into it ? maybe I should see if a rep can make me one or add a small compass to a watch band ? just think it is a cool concept. i think a compass on a mechanical watch would be a bad idea, i mean the needle is a magnet .....not cool , me thinks

Check out casio Mudmaster, has built in compass, temp, altimeter. Some law enforcement/military do use this watch.

Yeah, the G-Shock is one of those watches that don't have any official military affiliation but are used by many in the service due to their rock-solid performance. Another watch that's popular in the military is the Marathon watch, which can also be bought with a clip-on compass.

Breitling has a model with a small compass on the strap. Kinda gimmicky, IMHO.

I am happy with my Suunto Core. Durable digital ABC watches are easily found.

Look at the Tissot T - Trek as one cool option.

I’m just giving you a hard time. I’ve had a couple of straps that have a small compass....also had a Casio with a built in compass.

yep i have seen a few Casio watches with compass and some watches with clip on band compasses. But the AFIELD & STREAM is only watch i have ever seen that has a mechanical compass ( compass that is set in hsg with water and a needle hand. i think i might try to talk to a china company and have them make me a few hundered or thousand compass watches , i think i could sale them ? that is going to lead me to another topic question i am going to post tonight . marty

I would rather have a digital compass and an analog watch.

I have plenty of experience with both analog and digital compasses.

I will keep the analog devices separate but have no problem combining the digital due to the technological advantage.

Just my $0.02 USD as always.
