I don't feel that I "need" a gun where I live. I "need" one for my line of work... different story.
I feel that I "enjoy" taking various firearms to nice shooting ranges and seeing exactly how accurate I can be in placing my lead through nice pieces of paper. Until you've taken a nice precision rifle to a 1000 yard range and managed to put 4 rounds touching each other on paper with a fifth round flying out to open up the group to 3 inches (at 998 laser measured yards)... you'll never know the sheer joy of shooting high powered precision rifles.

And yes, 20mm is a pain in the @rse to reload... the dies I've used require a 3 pound sledge hammer and a few wooden blocks... its a bit of a pucker moment when you hammer home that huge hunk of lead into the shell casing.

Git 'er right, y'all!!!!

C'mon wacko..... they had to spruce him up a bit for the photo shoot. Even brushed his teeth......

Hey Higgy, How do you know that tooth paste was invented down South????

If it was invented up North, it would have been called teeth paste!!!!

@ willster

You guess correctly there my friend... The Camp Perry Nationals is my favorite time of the year.

I've always been a nice .308nato type shooter (.50bmg for fun mostly, hell of a deer rifle though), but recently I've been working up loads for that superflat 6.5x84 wildcat (not really a wildcat anymore... can buy the brass from a few places now) and am waiting for a nice Marine to return from the kitty litter box of Iraq to finish building my dang 6.5 rifle, Sent off my stripped Rem700 action to him back in July of 2001... its been on standby since September of that year for some odd reason..

Got to agree with HK45.....you got to get that Rem 700 back...wonderful firearm

.308s are fun lazy Sunday morning shoot along with old .45-70

will shoot friends 50BMG only when my back needs realignment or I feel like fusing a couple of vertabre
"Your right 50BMG is a good deer rifle ....if you want Deer Burgers"

local boys playing with 6.5 are pushing the envelope with loads....getting hotter and hotter

Did you get to perry this summer?

A shooters paradise......problem is we have to drive through NY state to get there......strip off all NRA stickers so the federallies dont stop us.....like a bunch of Gun runners....too bad things in the States are the way they sometimes are.

I've got 4 rem700 in the safe atm... just waiting on my 6.5 custom build one. I'm doing my best to be patient.
I've got a savage I redid myself into the 6.5. Its nice, but its just not the same as Hart and Sharp barrels, McMillian stocks etc....

And the .50bmg with a sabot and a 168grain BTHP .30 tip is a smoker that is a wonderous thing to pop a deer with. Nice flat trajectory, wonderful clean thud, and the deer falls over. No tracking at all.

And Heck Yah I got to Perry... Every year since I discovered it. 9th straight year for me was this year. Man I love that place.
I don't have NY state trouble, I live in Southern Ohio... for me its just a nice straight drive north till I hit the lake.

I know I'm late for this thread but about the RNSF, they said the south would rise again!
Who knew it was going to be in Iraq?

I stick to pistols. I knew hk45ca and I had something in common. However, not HK,
I carry a Glock 30 (45ca) compact. I've also got a Beretta 9mm and a 38 spc.
and a CCW to keep it real. Well, I've got one SKS but who doesnt??

My fellow militia men & I keep the boarder of Michigan & ohio safe.... from buckeyes. :x

No, I've got the 8000D, It is a double action only with no saftey or decocker. It
is intended for use by police, military and the U.S. conceled markets. Honestly,
for the $350ish that I paid, it has been one of the best guns I've owned. It is very
comfortable to shoot, too bad it is such a small ca. .
And it is nothing like the 9000 series which is very cheap & .... is very cheap & is..... crap.

If I didnt own my glock30 I would own an H&K. I really like both. :)

When I was a business owner with a wholesale base for cellular products and a retail store front
Someone attempted to rob me at gun point. I exited the rear of the store which is in a back alley way
in a downtown metro urban city when 3 kids (17 or 18 yrs old) approach me. I recognized that I had
just sold one a car adaptor and he said that it didnt work. I told him no problem I would refund or
exchange tomorrow. The kid said no, but I'll take your bank deposit now, and pulled out a small
22ca. pistol. Now understand, I am really good at sizing someone up and realized he was just as nervous
as I was. I told him, hold on, dont be startled, I want to show you something really important. I reached
in my wastebelt and pulled out my beretta 9mm (in a harmless way) and explained,
"if you shoot me, it will really piss me off and it will sting like a son of a gun, I am going to shoot you back and you will die". I told him to think about it, I told him that he has a chance to walk away and come back tomorrow with the adaptor to get his money back and I'll act like this will never happen.

He was sweating at this point, his friends were pulling at his arms saying "lets go", he said "I'm really sorry, I knew I shouldnt have done this" and walked away. He never did come back into the store & I've never seen him again.

I dont think I would ever do that again, I would hand over the money and not show them I have a gun.
It was a really stupid thing for me to do but like I said, I can determine what someone is thinking very
fast.
