Hi,

I am in the QC stage for a VSF Yacht-Master and not sure about a few things.

1. Not sure if the dial is symmetrical?
Align Picture: https://prnt.sc/szcb6X7UTFwZ

2. Does the SEL look ok, left ones look like they have a gap to me?

3. Does the cyclops look central, it looks offset to the right to me.
Close up: https://prnt.sc/g9Hx03dH1BsU

Appreciate any opinions, thanks.

I’ll pretend I didn’t see the image with the Reddit tool.. 😅 The watch looks really good imo. GL

#1 and 3 cannot be truly evaluated without the watch in hand - the slightest tilt or photoing asymmetry will give illusions of "not aligned". To me, they look good - but that is me. Re: #2 - I see the tiniest of SEL gap - but from a foot, I do not know anyone who'd see it.

It's just me but I'd give a GL, realizing this piece is a tiny fractional cost of the gen and the issues unnoticeable to all but someone with a loupe and the watch in their hand. I am new to RWI, have 2 reps and mostly gens (in my pre rep life), so take my thoughts with that background.

We don't do QC If you have a question about a specific thing you think is off then by all means ask about that.

Did you buy from one of our TD's? Of so which one and we might be more receptive but if you bought outside of out group then don't expect much help of love here.

We all put in the efforts to do the research and that doesnt come for free to a noob who hasnt read any of the rules of the forum.

Sounds harsh maybe but it fair to all the good folk here the community that takes is Reddit, there are some good folk on there too but there are also a lot of one time single servers who never give back.

As the saying goes you get back what you put in.

As for the watch looks ok but its up to you really to QC as you are the one buying it and its better to know before you order all the little differences.
At the end of the day it's a rep and all you can do is pick one that has the least differences to that of its gen, most people will never notice any of them only a dealer or a nerd!

You guys who use the alignment tool need to seriously get off that, are you going to draw the lines on your watch so people can see it is aligned, if not then why use the tool? People carry their eyes with them, not a tool to look at your watch.

If anything about that watch bothers you, you need to buy Gen and forget Reps. Person above is right about the cyclops and camera angle.

Sorry to be frank but many expect too much out of Reps.

To be fair Gens are not all that much better 2 GMT's ive tried on one the 126713 GRNR had a miss aligned rehaut and the other was a Batman both in legit stores too! I only noticed it cause Im a nerd and when i made a joke to the guy showing me is this real? He took a look and said he'd never seen that before. He showed another staff member who was also surprised but as both had papers white tags and were "display only ofcourse" they didnt have much to say, so for an AD to not really notice and it to get past RO inspection, I dont think we can be too critical on reps to be honest!

Its only slightly off on the one I looked at and then I started looking online at others (rainy day) and its more common than you would think, only very slightly off for sure but I found several gens on Chrono and WF that woere off as much as Ive seen reps.
Its the nature of being hand built.

That said there are 2 ways it can be off the engraving is not central to the rehaut and case or the movement is not lined up with it when seated (there is marginal room for movement on gens) It could also be that the crystal is slightly off with the cyclops being a little high or a little low and then the movement is lined to that, bear in mind the crown stem will lock it into place so this amount of movement is small but enough when really inspected.

Oddly this never comes up on the rep vs gen Youtube vids at all so isnt a huge tell otherwise it would be much more common.

The tool on reddit whilst handy was more useful in years gone by when QC from he factories was suspect, but they have upped their games considerably to compete with each other which is good for us. Also they want to elevate themselves away from the $100 models on Ali and DH that are truly rubbish and the kind for sale in Tourist traps in markets and beaches!

End of the day its a REP, you know its a REP so take it as that, for the money and level of detail they are at now they are pretty close to the gens by way of looks especially stainless models and the movements are almost there too just certain parts are cheaply made but having run some for years they do seem to still be as accurate even without servicing, so we cant be overly critical for the money being spent!
