VSF Submariner 126610LN Review & Macros

I just received my VSF 126610LN from Sead's EU stock. The parcel was ehre within two weeks despite Royal Mail logistics disruptions due to Covid19. Really a nice rep I gotta say. First of all, Sead's QC is great and he picked a nice one, everything is in its place and the movement started up fine out of the box without winding.

As I've seen before on VSF's Omega reps, the build quality is on a very high level. The bracelet feels very comfy without any oil treatment, clasp opens and closes with a solid click, bezel rotation sounds good. I'd say that the workmanship on the metal parts is easily on the level of the ARF SD43 I reviewed last year. The polished and brushed surfaces look great, also really close up. The dial is sharp, datewheel print has minor imperfections close up, not visible with the naked eye of course. The hands and markers are nicely polished, just a tiiiiny scratch visible at 10x magnification at 12 o'clock. The bezel marker/number paint is great and very evenly with no visible grinding marks. The bezel insert and datewheel are aligned, rehaut is rotated a liiiiittle to the right and the serial number is not 100% perfectly distributed between the minute markers. Still talking about macro level >10x magnification though. The SELs and SEL recess look good. The clasp is good, the brushing isn't executed in straight lines though. Here's some shots for your entertainment. Sorry for the smudges on the bezel, shouldn't eat fries while taking shots... ;)

Thank you so much for your detailed review and all the fantastic pictures!!!
In these macro pics it seems that the insert of the pearl has some scratches and the corner of the 6 o clock indice seems to bee more bold on the right upper and lower side than on the left upper and lower side.
I guess thats just visible with a loupe or even in these macro pics and not with your eyes.
Just to get in impression how obvious is the the misalignrd last number of the serial on the rehaut just looking at the watch with the eyes (no loupe, macro etc.)
One mentioned this is already the second batch. Is it? What did vsf improve?

Thanks, bro. Don't worry, you'll have tons of these scratches after wearing a watch for a few months. I know guys that got the lugs scratched by the AD when the bracelet was shortened. The markers aren't 1000% perfect, but neither are gen ones. Those are hand finished at R factory and never match specs to the micrometer. If someone's taking your the watch in his hand and holds it so the light reflections make the engraving visible, he might notice the unaligned serial number. You should wear it for yourself, not to trick anyone. The biggest tell of VSF's 126610 is the cyclops IMHO.

Regarding the batch BS that's repeated over and over by certain members: don't believe every theory on the Internet. The manufacturing tolerances of the reps are far bigger than most would assume. Not every thicker/thinner detail, change of SEL recess depth or different clasp gap is a "new batch". Most guys telling these stories are Internet warriors who never held a gen in their hands. ;)

Not really, I compared mine with my other Gen Crystals and I can't see any difference now.
Blackhole and Halo effect is spot on on my 126610 LN.
That's really crazy and I have never seen this on a Rep before

I only have a Datejust with gen crystal to compare to. This one looks a little different side by side. However, to some extent it's obvious that the black hole effect can't be as strong on this crystal with dial-side AR. If someone sends me his gen 126610, I'll compare this in detail. Just kidding... ;)

It’s definitely a good Xtal, in most pictures posted on the forum it doesn’t look off to me, I’m usually suprised at how good it looks.

What Is funny to me is how mobile/cell phone images seem to accentuate things that did not show kip in your pictures.

Regarding the point about batches, I agree no one actually knows How this stuff works It’s all hear say But becomes accepted as fact if enough people say it.

it’s known tolerances are higher and it’s likely that’s to blame for things being different rather than silent updates, let’s face it factories love to shout about an update as it means more sales and potentially higher price for them.

You are right here.
Most pictures can't reflect how a watch looks in person.
You need to handle the watch, feel the quality or not. Some tiny points are needed to judge about it when u handle it.

I always changed the Crystal and the Datewheels on my Rolex Reps because it's a important asthetical thing for me.
This is the first one that looks good OTB!

Hello, I need your help for a moment. I bought a first rep watch and I'm not sure if the QC pictures are good. Would you accept the watch as is? Or should I have more pictures sent to me? It was ordered from Ryan Intime.
Thank you very much.

Hi,

You maybe don’t know but there is a rule here that people do not generally check Your QC for you. It’s your job to know the pros and cons of the model and check For any obvious defects of the watch.

If there’s something you’ve seen and want an opinion on this is accepted as okay on the forum. If not, have a good look at it and if all looks well to you then accept it.

YellowFin I‘m sorry okay!? Relax and have a nice day.

I don’t think he needs to “Relax”, this is his thread with his photos, opinion, review and discussion around it. In all honestly it’s highly rude to come in and post your QC pictures expecting others to QC for you, beyond that wouldn’t it have been better etiquette to at least make your own post rather than hijack someone else’s if you had specific areas of your QC that you were concerned about (which you didn’t, you just asked for full QC which is against the forums rules).

Would you be so kind as to edit your post and remove your QC pics please. As others have told you, not only is it a rude thread hijack, it’s also against the forum rules to solicit general comments on QC pics.

The important part is a macro lens with long focal length, almost any camera built after 2016 on the back will do the job.

I don't have any real camera knowledge to be honest, so that's good to know, might be able to get a cheaper camera and a higher quality lens then. Been wanting something to take great macro shots for a while now

I can't really switch due to the many FourThird lenses lying around here. If I could choose anew, I'd probably go for the Canon 100/2.8 macro (old version, no need to spend money on the Mk2).
