Right iv had a research on how to quieten rotor noise and it does look fairly straightforward, is there anyone who’s done it their VSF Pams, does the rotor have to be removed?...will have a go with moebius oil...

I have done it on my bronzo successfully. Was noisy, now is quiet. The thicker greases work well. One thing to be careful of is over doing it, my Pam's rotor is a little stiff now and requires a bit more motion to keep it wound than other watches, eg 1200 rotations per day instead of 900. You may need to remove the rotor to grease it if external application doesn't do it.

Facom lithium grease. Put small amount in the bearing, turn it 10 times in one direction, remove excess grease, turn 10 times in the other direction, clean. Enjoy

Genuine panerai watches does also have a noisy rotor similer to the vsf rotor sound, don't worry about it.

The noise of the gen is much smoother however ...

Is it the 3 screws in the middle of the rotor to undo and remove?...I have a 389 (p.9000) and a 692 (p9010)...the rotor looks fixed the same on both?

i have no direct experience on the P9010-A7750 movement, the rotor screws and the center is faux in the P9000-a7750 movements. I think the P9010-A7750 will likely be too,

P9000-a7750 = non VSF custom movements

No need to remove the screws to oil. You see the bearings on your pictures

Do not put some grease in the bearing, it's too thick...the best way is to add a drop of moebius D5 oil !
This way the rotor will turn freely without any noise ;)

Have anyone just tried to take the whole rotor off and just use the manual wind? The rotor is really loud.

Is there a good alternative to Moebius D5? It’s pretty difficult to get

I purchased from Esslingers and had in hand in 3 days.

Haven’t tried to silence the rotor with it as of yet so cannot comment on effectiveness.

Too bad it’s in NA, I just moved back to Europe. :/
Let us know the results please!

Caveat- I was instructed to use HP1300 for this job but had already ordered the D5 & had also read that it would work.

Not having an oiler I used a small plastic toothpick to dab a tiny tiny tiny amount on the rotor head near the crevice where the bearings are visible. Like a pin head size drop, smaller even.

Then used the head of the toothpick to gently guide the small amount into the crevice while rotating the rotor to ensure contact with all bearings.

Sealed the caseback back up & now it sounds just like my genuine PAMs. No more metallic loud whirring.

Yes, please don’t use grease.

Way too thick and could slow your rotor down, thus effecting power reserve.

Use a thicker oil. HP1300 is recommended in almost every case. ETA even calls our 9010 in some cases.
D5 is similar to HP1300 in its properties.

NO GREASE!!
