First QC's for your information only - I have already green'd this.

It looks great! Excellent rehaut, first R and serial in correct enough positions. Everything else looks to be of VSF standard.

I do it for the same reason I buy any rep - to live the fantasy of owning something I would never buy in gen. I've never owned a gen Sub FG so these feel just like all my other reps in terms of weight and that's perfectly fine by me. No one else handles my reps so the weight of these FG reps is a moot point.

I have 8 FG/TT reps. If you take good care of them they can last a good while. Most of mine are close to two years old and still look brand new.

I put cell phone protective film on all the clasps and two links either side to prevent scratches. It works well. None of mine have any scatches or fading. You can buy pre-cut kits to do the whole watch, some people do this on their gens. If applied properly it's very hard to tell it's even there.

Yup, I’ve got the custom cut stuff on my sub, you can’t really tell at all, only in just the right light. Golds not really my thing but I may need to have that black one..

Thanks for sharing.

The overall watch does look great, but I wouldn't call the rehaut excellent. Yes it's a bit better on the top right, but most of the right side is still misaligned

Yep. It’s much improved, but it’s never been a big deal to me. I’m more into other details.
That was a quick QC, I expected to wait a week or two considering it’s not even photographed on TD websites yet. Hopefully it arrives as fast!

Quite a nice looking piece overall bro, congrats.

Too bad VSF can't make their cyclops so the date fonts don't look like alien crop circles. Always has to be one thing that's not just perfect I guess. I don't mean to be a Debbie Downer, this is just a sore point for me since otherwise the crystal is so good.

My VRF Max all gold sub (supposedly wrapped - load of BS but that’s another story) is actually a couple of grams lighter than my hulk

Why big Rep factories wouldnt try using Tungsten in replacement of steel for gold rep watches? Tungsten has very similar weight and density with gold and they are pretty cheap material and relatively easy to work with. Just some point to ponder...

It would require all new sourcing and tooling, training of workers etc. For what end? They don't care about weight, and neither should we. I can tell it's a rep on someone else's wrist by glancing at the cyclops a few times. I don't see how the extra weight is a plus unless you want to try to fool someone else.

This is the same old story......

In real life, more than a meter away, with reflections, lights and a moving wrist, a good rep (unless he has a huge fist) is impossible to distinguish from the gen, the rest are useless chatter only good in the forums.

No, no.. I can tell a fake crown from across town, I have been able to call out crap crown guards before the guy has even left the house and just yesterday when I passed a bloke on the motorway I could tell his Sub was a ZF, yeah yeah I know, you can do that too, but this dude was heading the other way.. .his mate in the passenger seat had a gen BLNR though.

I got the no date that they released, and the alignment is identical to yours. Not great, but not atrocious.

Which is why weight is a moot point. But if not for our chatter we wouldn't have preferences, or know which reps are better than others or what mods they need.

It's a refractory metal. It's not easy to work with nor to plate. You have to be very very aggressive to activate it which is dangerous in a poor environment.
You can use copper to adhere but the gold peels instead of fading which looks terrible.

Nickel plating requires so MUCH perp work with refractory metals. Sodium pyrophosphate etch, rinse, nickle plate. Wood nickel treatment with anodic sulphur. You won't activate it the first or second time or even 3rd.

They don't even try to match Rolex 18k gold colour. I doubt they care about weight.

I’ve sat at a desk with someone several times and the main thing that sticks out is the cyclops, after terrible SEL. That cyclops really is a giveaway, but it depends on the environment you’re in.
