Nice pictures, where do you send the watch to make the WG plated ?
TY, the modder I use is not a trusted watchmaker here on RWI because of things that happened in the past (not sure what exactly).Nice pictures, where do you send the watch to make the WG plated ?
I doubt any of the factories are still electroplating gold anymore. BP has been using PVD for 5+ years And whatever mix of Chemicals they have is perfect for the Rolex gold color. I tried sanding the gold off a BP Submariner clap and it took a long time. That titanium nitride is tough stuff. It’s the same stuff they coat drill bits with to get the gold color tips on them.@trustytime The ad implies that VSF has moved beyond "electroplating" for this release. Do you know if they're using nitride PVD, such as titanium or zirconium?
If so, it's been a long time coming and would be a very welcome evolution.
I'm looking forward to seeing that comparison, I'm still trying to decide between the VSF, CF and BTF (likely with an RB dial swap). FWIW my other VSF xtals are great, I don't think you'll feel the need to swap for the deep.Just ordered an 126506 ice blue dial (non-baguettes) VSF with the added weight and DD4131 movement from one of my favorite TDs. Steve told me no need to change to a Deep crystal so rolling the dice with the VSF crystal. Looking forward to comparison with my Clean 116506 ice blue dial (non-baguettes) that I bought a couple years ago.
Sorry, but I wasn't aware of this. So the gold color will not fade anymore? It's time for a full gold Daytona!I doubt any of the factories are still electroplating gold anymore. vs haven't released weighted 4801 version, check with puretime, my guess is they just uploaded the pictures of the 4131 variant (since they're exactly the same as 4801)Excuse me, guys, I don't want to be offtopic, but need a confirm on this one:
from the pic on the balance, it would appear to be weightened....do you know something i don't know??![]()
Thanks mate, i am really undecided whether to buy the DD4131 with added weight, or the 4801....400 usd of dfference, with a little more i could take also the new CF Yachtmaster Titanium...vs haven't released weighted 4801 version, check with puretime, my guess is they just uploaded the pictures of the 4131 variant (since they're exactly the same as 4801)
Buy the cheap one because you'll be looking for your next watch immediately after you get it in hand. If you do really love the ghost and want to get the expensive version / best version or whatever you can sell off the 4801 and buy it. No harm no foul. Thanks mate, i am really undecided whether to buy the DD4131 with added weight, or the 4801....400 usd of dfference, with a little more i could take also the new CF Yachtmaster Titanium...
