Hello Members,

My last (2) Vs3135 movements collapsed the keyless works when removed stem in the winding position.

I sent the (2) movements back to the seller for repairs.
The Seller stated that the winding stem should be removed in the 2nd Date change position?

Can anyone confirm this?

Thanks Ed

I would be inclined to listen to the person who sold you those movements then graciously agreed to fix them for no charge. I doubt very much that he would lie to you.

What trip said... You are lucky that the seller has the patience and will to repair it for you. It's clearly a user error and as said, why question him? And yes, you should not remove the stem in winding position.

When it comes to stem position with clone 3135 movements you can ask three different watchmakers, and you'll likely get three different answers. I can only share my perspective.

In the time setting position I guide the stem back into place, my tweezers find the button, pressing it gently while sliding the stem smoothly to the very end. I linger there for a moment, savoring the precision, then slowly draw it back until I feel and hear that satisfying click. It's an intimate dance with the keyless works, caressing each part, listening to its whispers, and feeling the subtle cues of the yoke. You can't rush it, you must let the movement guide you, especially with the delicate nature of clone movements.

I have tested removing the stem in all positions on two different VS3135 movements. If done carefully, you can do it in any position, but I had the best luck not fucking up the keyless works in the time setting position. Here is what I did (note: first timers need to use less force on everything than they assume)

Winding stem removal:
- Pull stem to time setting position and set time to ~6 (make sure date gear not engaged just to be safe)
- Start pulling the stem outward with just a tiny bit of force and press the release button with even less force until it releases
- Pull out very slowly, with a slight clockwise twisting motion if needed

Winding stem insertion:
(This is where you are most likely to fuck it up)
- Insert the stem slowly and as straight in as possible while turning it clockwise
- If you've properly engaged the sliding pinion, you should feel almost no resistance until its almost all the way in
- Then it should click in to time setting position

If you've managed to mess up the keyless works, this position makes it easier to fix from the back. (You only need to remove four screws to get to the keyless works FYI). It's pretty easy to fix, here is an example of what is usually wrong (sliding pinion gets pushed out of place):

Here is what it should look like:

Excellent! Thank you , since then Iv successfully removed the stem on vs/vr in the time setting position 🙏
I like working with the 3135 clones over any. Other type of movement.

Thanks Ed .
