Got it. What about the mod that turns the crown into a pull out instead of a screw down? It’s not like a gen but solves the problem in theory?

Agreed to the decorative movement with a closed case back as well…
I am not a fan of clipping the stem. I think it is, at best, a compromise. I tried it and it never looked right and the untethered crown hacked the movement several times a day. If we were talking about a DHgate watch, maybe…

Just an idea, don't know if it will work.

Heimdallr does a Hommage of the NTTD in Titanium. Case has same specs, i would bet the tube would fit.

You could message them on Ali if they can sell the tube. I purchased a crystal from them.

The case is also sold as a sparepart from them.

I clearly remember several Heimdallr seaghost owners complaining on WUS about this same actual issue, so I don't think it could be a viable solution.

Hmmm...so no, it's not the final Solution, but maybe one for short termif you want to get it "fixed".

I have read through every thread and post on the NTTD Omega and the issue with the crown and tube is the only reason I have yet to purchase one. I thank all of you who provided detailed feedback on these posts. Hopefully an updated version (V5?) will fix the issue.

I finally got around to removing the tube from my watch. What a pain in the butt! The press in tube was cemented and, even after hitting it with a torch hoping to break the bond, it held strong enough that the super soft metal tube mushroomed inside the case when I tried to push it out.

I ended up drilling that bugger out.

Now, I need to decide to replace it with a genuine press-fit or tap it for a genuine screw in. Both are available as Omega has used both. I’m leaning toward the screw in. A bit more work but not terribly so. Fortunately, genuine Omega parts are readily available and inexpensive.

Sounds like a lot of work. How did you hold the watch case to do that work?

Not that big a deal. I held the case in one hand and the handpiece in the other. Surgical loops with LEDs helps.

Knowing how frustrating it can be to find an unfinished thread requesting help with a specific problem, I'm trying to post the answer to the threads about VSF NTTD crown and tube issues.

With hat tip to @daytonadude, no need for those half-assed "fixes" because a solution has been found!

A compatible crown and press-to-fit tube are available on AliExpress. Assuming this problem will keep coming up after the links here have cone dead, persons in the future may try a search for "High Quality Stainless Steel Watch Crowns Titanium color For Seamaster 300 6.3mm*2.5mm*2.5mm Watches Accessories Crown part" or look for HJWEI Watch Movement Store.

If your tube is stripped, you will need to remove the tube. It Is press-fit and, based upon my experience, may not be easily pressed out without the soft metal mushrooming making it impossible to remove without cutting it out. In retrospect, I think using a screw extractor bit may prove more efficacious than trying to push the VSF tube out.

If your crown is stripped and the tube is fine, measure the tube diameter and select the correct size tube from the options. I bought the 6.3mm crown that comes with the 2.5mm * 2.5mm tube which did not fit my VSF crown. No problem, though as I just used the new crown (see pictures). I have no way of knowing since my tube was beyond measuring but the 2.6mm*2.4mm tube may fit the VSF crown. Again, it's just a guess but, again, if it doesn't match, just use the new crown that comes with the tube and your good to go.

So here are the pics of the new crown and tube installed. Please note, the second photo of the crown (side view) was after I hit the crown with the torch (after first removing the rubber gasket) to darken it as I felt it was just a bit too brite out of the box. So the two views show the lighter crown (front view0 and the darkened crown (side view) so you can decide for yourself which is better.

Thank you for this link. I like others have purchased a gen crown, but still had the problem so I’m assuming the tube is the problem. I will be ordering this one from your link. Wish me luck!

Finally recieved the new parts last night. I was able to press out the old stripped tube fairly easily. And the new one pressed in without any difficulty.
I was happy to find that the gen crown I purchased previously threads in perfectly with the aftermarket tube. As does the original vsf crown. I’ll stick with the gen just because.
With the Gen mesh bracelet, and the gen crown that securely screws down I’m finally feeling satisfied with this one.
Now if only I could get a fix for the weak lume 😭
