Looking for some advice as have seen this (JKF?) tudor sub on PT...

I'm not looking to get into modding as I only want something that doesn't cost a huge amount (would go for the 2836 version) and looks okay on the wrist and don't want to spend a ton of money getting something that might convince a watch guy. The plexis on a lot of these factory vintage models seem way too big, but this is the only one of the factory subs I've seen that has what looks like a lower profile plexi and was wondering on people thoughts? The other option is one of the BP vintage subs on Trusty as they seem to have fairly low profile plexis too?

Any advice would be appreciated

I believe the high dome is correct for the vintage models as the dome provides the extra strength for the deep dives. It also creates a better seal as the pressure increases it pushes the crystal outward and sort of makes it expand against the case/gasket.

Do you just not like the high dome look or think it doesn't match the gens of the time period?

You said you dont want to mod but If you like a particular watch but not the crystal it really is a very simple 10min job to swap a crystal. Crystal's without AR coatings are extremely cheap as in a few bucks and a cheap press is $12 on amazon or harbor freight. Then you can have a flat or low double domed crystal in saphirre/mineral/ acrylic with the watch your prefer.

Hi buddy and thanks for the reply. Yeah, main reason is I'm not fan of the high domed crystals and the early 80s subs that would be the look I'd like to go for don't seem to have the big dome Versions

I've struggled to find and guides with pictures or videos on how to swap out the crystal so was a bit wary of doing it myself... You make it sound easy so maybe I'll have a go, will any tropic 19 fit these subs?

thanks for the info mate, was it much of a task replacing the crystal as I can't find much online to show me the process? Also, do you know what diameter crystal is required for these JKF subs as I've seen different ones for sale (30.3 and 30.48?)

First you need to remove the bezel, there are several illustrations online, for instance like this:

After that, it's not so hard replacing the crystal:

Sorry, I don't know about the diameter, mate.
