vintage means " it looks like it was worn for years , not destroyed:) the scratches have a pattern , real wear usually does not . there are many marks that look like 90 grit abrasive :)
please dont insult those really able vintagers like enzo with this horrible crap by useing the word "vintage "

Did you spill coffee on the dial and let it dry?
If it's a joke... it's a good one, otherwise seek help.

Who knows where to find that story about the mechanic who owned a Sub that fell in the oil..?

Dude, replace the crystal and distress it again but dont go that far. Looks like the case needs a little more work as well.

hey...if he likes it...leave it like that ! i am sure it gets a lot of attention !

if anybody wants to do something really serious and different...i offered before to put a .50 BMG through your watch...now that would make it special !!

@ Enzo

I agree...there are no "rules" whe you are doing a vintage project. All depends on what is your target.

Fantastic insider tips, enzo.

You're a brave man, moggio. You may even inspire me to do some light vintaging on my 6154.

A friend of mine and a customer...(not a board member tho' )......distresses his vintage Rolex watches in the following manner....!

1. He strips the watch of the bezel insert....glass.....movement....crown...!

2. He then puts it in his washing machine on a dry cycle......lets it bump around for about 10mins....takes it out checks it.....puts it back in if need be...until he's satisfied...!

3. Takes the dial and a few big Cohibas....does the smoky dial thing....will use some poster paints watered down for an aged look....!

Then re-assembles them....don't know what he does with the crowns tho'...need to ask him....!

You said it Mogg: like shit. Do you really want to own a pam that's been on the bottom of the Aegean - and been used & abused by hermit crabs?
