Yes the two metal bits collecting the head of the watch to the strap, 2 on each side. Some people will send the rep strap to the maker as a "donor" strap where the maker will copy the strap. Also to make it more confusing, there's is a piece of thin metal inside the strap called the "insert" where it starts from the end links end and it ends half way around the wrist to create the "curve" of the strap. You don't need the insert but it will look nicer.

Ah right! Thanks for that info, I wasn't aware that the AP reps lugs weren't all standardised. This makes it so much more complicated.

I'm guessing our Vietnamese friends may not be able to produce these accurately enough without the donor sent over?

simple answer is a yes to avoid disappointment. There are enough version of the safaris around, plus size varies during manufacturering (we are talking China) I personally wouldn't just order one without something for them to copy

Thanks to everyone contributing great information here so far!

I am looking to buy my first custom strap to go with one of these H-FAC PAMs http://forum.replica-watch.info/vb/...-(buy-2-free-registered-mail-shipping)-JUST-A

However, since this is my first time looking for a strap, I don't really know what I am looking for / how to find something suitable.
I was looking through the ebay stores linked here and was wondering if, for the PAM, I should be looking at 24mm or 22mm straps?

Also will I be able to use the buckle that comes with the PAM on the new strap?

Thanks in advance, and I will be sure to update here, should I order from on of the sellers discussed!

First of all which Pam model are you getting? As some models take 24mm at the watch head and some 26mm and some smaller ones are 22.

Regarding your 2nd question about buckle, again we need to work out the width of your buckle that comes with your watch. Once you got the watch you simply measure it with a ruler.

Say if you bought a 390, the default rep asso strap is 24/22, meaning is 24mm wide at the lugs or the watch head and the buckle is 22mm wide. So the strap tapers 1mm each side.

I see, thanks a lot!

I will be getting a 113, so if I contact SEAD about the measurements, I should be able to figure it out based on the information you provided.

By default most straps are 24/22.if you have an extra large wrist you might wanna get your strap maker to make the strap longer. You can approximate the extra length by looking at the notches your have the buckle on etc.

Another resource before getting a custom strap is buy some from the accessories corner from paneristi.com. I personally found some bargains there when some straps were bearly worn and is 20% to 30% cheaper.

I'm saying the above, I would recommend you getting a gen buckle. A few of my friends didn't listen to me and their rep buckle slowly cutting their strap (some rep buckle don't have the inside finished with a file therefore sharp) and one of the watch fell off the wrist.

If this is real croc then 30 bucks' a good price. Lately there are way too many amateur strapmakers charging a high price when their workmanship is crap. One way for me to find hidden talents is by using instagram and search for hashtags of #watchstrap, #crocodilestrap and etc. You'll find a few gems who are so good at their craft and that's what i consider as bespoke, not some hyped up makers like LPV. Strapmakers like Orloff price his straps well. His works might not be very good but his price justifies his straps.

I found another strap maker the members of RWG talked about. I've contacted him and asked he could a Pam strap, he said yes. But when I asked about the payment, he said we only accept paypal for now. However, I wanted WU because it's faster and cheaper for me, his reply was they can accept WU but there is an extra fee. [emoji58]
Weird, I don't know what's the fee for..

I'm just about to get a MH on a rep leather strap. Is there any need to ask for extra lugs for the future?

Sorry I don't understand your question

Sorry. I meant any need to get spare end links at the same time as the watch so as to future proof any strap changes? Does that make sense ?

Yes, I've been told is a pain to fit the end links to the strap, is better to send the spare end links to your strap maker so they can pre fit the end links to your new strap. I remember I paid 5USD each with Angus, so they are pretty affordable

Sure. Got my third one from Tuan and quality is really great! You can't find this for such a low price anywhere so I would really advise you to try.
Tuan does custom size on request, but has extensive choice, and unlike some, WYSIWYG!

I may have missed it, but which seller is Tuan?

Same here, anyone care to fill us in.

I have two on order. One from Ms Linh and one from vnhandcraftart. Hopefully should be hearing back from them soon.

vnhandcraftart is great, ordered 8 straps, arrived within a week with EMS shipping, and most importantly really inexpensive. each strap was $30 shipped ($240 total). can only recommend them!
