please scrutnize before i send this to you tomorrow. Any one else for that matter.

Here is victoria's watch prior to modding. The lume on the dial and hands does not match, yet I was pleasantly surprised when the repl
iume glowed like it did. HOwever no comparison

You should really do sometning about hands, the centre of minute hand is damaged, lume overspilled on edges...etc.

Vic will give you her view, don't you worry.

Yes, thank Babola. I was informed the similar RWG thread was deleted, and at first, I didn't know why or who had done it.

First, let me give a big hug of thanks to TWP. He didn't have to do this, since all I had hoped for was a working 183 (and both the 183/190 without the threaded lugs), which I had bought back in August. He gave me the mods of the tall cannon pin and lume, entirely out of his own generosity.

So you see, I am deeply grateful to him for giving me these upgraded mods.

It does worry me, TWP, that the dial looks sub-par to your standards. I wouldn't like to receive a dial in these conditions, though I tread very carefully in any kind of reply, because it's like looking a gift horse in the mouth. :(

I am SURE however, that you will make things right, and you will show others here and at RWG, how proficient you are in modding!

At your disposal any time, via PM or email. [smilie=alien.gif]

Thank you!! And thanks to all who replied here and at RWG! :)

What makes me uncomfortable about this is that the RWG thread was deleted. I assume TWP deleted it (or it was done at his request), although I can only guess as to the reason (I wasn't able to view it before it was deleted).

And Victoria-- I understand that since TWP is doing this as a favor to you, you may feel a little awkward criticizing the job he did. But remember-- TWP specifically ASKED for people to chime in with their thoughts and opinions in this thread. And because he did so, this goes beyond just this one job. TWP is presumably posting these pictures to demonstrate (and advertise) his modding skills to other board members. And since that's the case, this is something that impacts everyone who is considering sending their watches to TWP for modding.

I also wonder why it was deleted, though I'm sure TWP didn't do it out of malice. Since it was in the Panerai section, and not his own, only a Mod could've done it, perhaps at his behest, as you surmise.

But then, wouldn't he have asked the same thing here? It's obviously still here, so his motives cannot be just embarrassment. It's possible he contravened a rule there.

Yes, that is a concern. But doesn't it puzzle you, unless he is completely deluded (which he is not), why he would post photos of a watch which was so badly modded? Perhaps to a newbie via email (if he were that type of person), but not in these forums where people know what's what.

Perhaps the photos are doing it an injustice. Let's await for clarification, which I'm sure will come soon. :)

Either way, thanks for looking out not only for me, but for the forum members too, Sean!

Victoria-- TWP doesn't have the ability to delete this thread, and I can tell you that no one on the RWI Mod Squad would delete it for him.

And to your point concerning TWP's modding, I really don't know if he was aware of how this would appear to the board. Selling watches is one thing, but modding is something else entirely.

Looks to me like the dial and hands had been cleaned up by the time the mvmt got back in the case- I don't see the blemishes or spillover in the later pics.

If you look at the lume at the 10:00 marker and on the "2" of the "12" marker, you can see some blemishes and dark spots. On the 10:00 marker, it looks like there's a hair or a line in the lume or something.

Agreed.

But Sean, guys, I checked my email just now, late as usual.

Without going into details, which I'm sure TWP will clarify better, later on -- it seems the photos here do not tell the whole tale. It seems all is better than we dared hope for.

I'll be looking out for this thread later, for developments. Thanks again! :)

i have a 183 coming from TWP as well.

Just checking to see what's up with the thread.

Mickey, I don't mean to sound awkward, but I think a person who pays for a mod, MIGHT have a little more attention paid to him or her, than one who is getting it as a freebie. So on that score, I think you are safe. :)

However, this is all conjecture. I'm sure his mods are fine. We await news, all of us.

Thanks for your kind words, guys, Sean!

roflmao, I went back to read what we are seeing...

The shot where there is stuff all over the dial is a "Before" shot... it is obvious based on the lume...
If you look on the After Shots... it is not there at all. The little hair line might be a shaving from the dial where the numbers are cut out.. should be easily corrected..

From what I understand... this watch came from vbarret... that's what it sounds like... you simply wanted a working watch.. so you must have sent this off to him... he lumed it,, put a cannon pinion in it... etc... I would not hold TWP responsible for the condition of the watch with the exception of the lume and canon pinion mod and any other part of the watch that he would have to directly touch to mod it.

lume looks good to me, vb,, you may have a nice watch there!

I have started a thread over at RWG about the deleted posts as it was me that replied to this one about Victorias watch and also one that he did for another member where the sausage dial had one of the lume markers squashed before it was set properly.
Shoddy stuff and members have the right to see the level of work this 'modder' does.

p.s - I hope you get a better dial than the one pictured Victoria..I feel for you.

I'm confused. Is the picture below the after or the before? In the OP it says it's the after, but you can see the areas I have marked. That looks awfully bad for a finished product.

hell, I dont know.. I'm confused too...

I'm just saying.. I dont know in this shot.. but the newly completed shots show a dial that does not look like this... so I assume it was a before...

Anyone have any dice? we can just roll it and guess .... I guess... :?

I guess Victoria will be the judge based on what she gets back... I bet she never guessed she would be in the middle of so much controversy... lol...

Well that's sort of the case. The other shots are all done at different angles and the crystal distortion plays into effect.

Like you said though, only time can tell.
