Hi all,

I have just ordered my first Tag Heuer rep. I went for a Carrera 1897 Chronograph from V6F. White dial with rose gold markings. Looking forward to getting my hands on it. My question - what are the known flaws on this watch? I have seen it listed as a "Super Rep" but some on other threads but I haven't seen anything highlighting whats wrong with it.
Ultimately it doesn't matter, I like the watch for what it is, however I am curious.

Cheers.

Is it the 43mm one?

Off the top of my head - seconds subdial is a bit further out due to 7750 vs 1887 but not very noticeable. Also a bit thicker for the same reason (1mm I think)

Movement deco is pretty good but not perfect if you look closely

And that's about it I think lol, enjoy the watch! I've got the 41mm version :)

I'm no expert but I think it's a great rep. As britain4 has already said, the main difference / flaw is the sub dial spacing - gens are closer to centre but only noticeable under scrutiny in a side-by-side comparison. It's my favourite rep at the moment...and I like more than my very similar IWC Portuguese 3714:

Thanks for the input guys. I have gone for the 43mm version. From the images it is a lovely looking watch. Looking forward to getting it on my wrist.

Could someone with a V6F Carrera post a picture of their case back for me? I have got my QC photos and it looks like there may be a typo (or it just looks like it from angle and lightning). If someone has something i could compare, it would be appreciated.

Thanks for that. If you notice the back of this one. Where is it made? Is yours made in the same place?

I will potentially post up QC pictures later but in fairness to the TD, i have first asked for a clearer picture to be properly sure. First I'll work it through that channel.
Mine is as expected and the same as my TD's images: http://www.intime01.co/tag-heuer/25...e-dial-rg-markers-on-ss-bracelet-cal1887.html

By the way, as outlined here, "you may post a QC pic if you have a specific question about a possible flaw"

The missing 'i' in Swiss on the case back? Yes, I think all of the V6Fs versions of this are the same. Although they managed to get it right on the Space X. I'm sure they do things like this on purpose. Movement detailing isn't perfect and, to be honest, doesn't look all that convincing in any case. Don't let that detract from what is otherwise a pretty good rep though.

Really weird how they can screw up swiss on the caseback lol....

Wow I definitely prefer this to 3714!

sent, me thinks
I had a SWF 3714 and the new slim ZF 3714, and I honestly prefer the Tag. Which is slightly ironic considering Tag blatantly copied the Portuguese. I just prefer the look and size of the Carrera 1887. It also has a very similar 'feel' and 'look' of the gen; especially with a good alligator strap.
