The compressed carbon weaves tend to loosen over time and that explains the softened edges and also the susceptibility to water ingression.
I would not even wear the gen fc diver I owned to the waters.

I know I’ve had it all sealed and tested and it’s stood upto a summer of pools and sun so all good so far
