Where I need to be.
Aww the poor neglected Bee. It is a stunning looking watch. However on a practical level it is very hard to coordinate it with anything and is about as subtle as a chainsaw, not that that tends to bother me. I had a nice one and indeed I did love it. I found I was not wearing it as much as I thought I would and ended up selling it to fund a franken crusade along with most of my APs.

I have a cheapie quartz one now and I love the look of it except it is not a FC case which kind of defeats the purpose of the Bee. Overall I have not looked back though. In terms of FC cases I still think the FC GP beats them all hands down.

Hey Dr K, "subtle as a chainsaw" barely begins to describe the APs you seem to have taken a serious fancy to wearing all year round lol.
I know a guy in Malaysia who has a bumblebee which has a corner of the case chipped off near the bezel, and he continued to wear it. Over the next few weeks, the watch started having waterproofing issues, and when sent back to AP, they charged him about $7000 to replace the case and waterproof the watch as well as change out some parts.
It is a relatively delicate watch compared with the steel 42mm ROOs, like the GP, which has an FC bezel too (though some have been replaced with ceramic after AP realized their folly and eventually discontinued the FC case). I was mindful of all these and kept the bee in storage for long years, but there is just something about FC which draws your eyes and heart time and again. It does look and feel like a toy on the wrist, but the heart wants what it wants lol.

Don't I know it. My 44FC should be in the Bin by now as the chrono is completely shot. It has spent more times with my watchmaker than in my watchbox. However when I look at that case I think to myself "how could I think so cruelly?".

Tommy is this gen or gen? lol

Unfortunately not, only my Franken. But I really have to admit I like the white Rubberclad.
The constant slightly glow of the numerals and the clean, sporty look arouse my enthusiasm.

The white RC with the new series dial is beautiful indeed. The silver/white dial is nestled by the black bezel and steel case and it is both classy and sporty and something which will never go out of fashion.
Congrats sir. Franken or gen, it is genuinely beautiful. If only more guys appreciate watches the way you do instead of obsessing if they are “gen-like”. Gen is gen and rep is rep from beautiful watches exist in both worlds.

Everytime I look at flying-tommy 's incredible brand-new-looking White RC I'm getting jealous but it also makes me appreciate how the dial and hands of my White RC are starting to get a slight patina comparable to the model's age. And looking at my whole collection of frankens & builds, it seems I'm starting to have a love affair with dials with patina, marks and scratches.

Patina, marks, scratches, and even dents are signs of ownership and wear and they are what makes a watch unique and different from another piece.
On large watches especially, it is next to impossible to not have it marked up in one way or another. My steel bezeled APs suffer from scratches and I don't bother to polish them out too.
I am however more careful with the gold ones as they can be polished only a limited number of times.

Your watch looks good, wear it with pride no worries!

This is exactly why laser welding has been a game changer. I see so many vintage pieces, especially Rolex, with crisp lines, and shiny champers.
