And the Gen Rubber is uncomfortable stiff.

Yeah iknow they have a small gap to. So not so big issue. Specialy the older models have it. And i can understand why you like your franken more, you have build it with passion for over 2years or so, collecting parts, change parts over the time, and see and be a part of the hole building process with Domi. So i totaly get it. But a gen is a gen :) But T i have a question. Is it big differens in the polished sides of the case? Is it the same thicknes? or JF case have broader polished sides? I know NOOB have little smaller polished sides then JF uses

I saw some older Gens. It is different. It depends on whether the watch has already been refurbished at AP.

I would say they are both identical gen and JF. Maybe at my gen the polished edges are even a bit wider, but not really noticeable.

My Gen Panda got a new Strap at the Service and it’s really stiff.

Will tomorrow try the fitting from JF. Lol

Realt..? Unbeliveble bro. And they take 500€ for that strap. Crazy. For that amount you can buy 10 JF straps :) btw now when you have your gen panda i hope you pm me if you ever wants to offload your H-serial black rubberclad :)

I have had new gen rubber and old gen rubber. They were all uncomfortable. The JF rubber beat them hands down for comfort. Actually some (not all) $15 straps from Ali are more comfortable.

I am glad I am not the only one who experienced this. I thought it was just my perception.

Where I need to be.
And now the big question. Are the old Gen's really three times better than a well-built Franken? Because that is what an old Gen costs in Europe.
Three times as much if it has received a new service.
But this should be discussed in an extra contribution.....

Your gen isn’t exactly an “old gen” T lol. It’s a H series minimally if not an I series looking at the watch. Every gen is worth its price because of its heritage, provenance and pedigree and that is something no franken can compete with. You also get a solid identity on what your watch is, an Audemars Piguet ROO panda, which is something no franken can claim completely to be too. It all depends on what you’re after, but gen ownership cannot be undermined. I agree with you that a new and well built franken can look better than a used gen but eventually the franken will look used as well, it’s just a matter of time and degree of use.
Enjoy your gen for what it is, and it’s something a franken or even genstein will never be. You’re an owner of a true AP watch now and you need to enjoy the moments. I also own a gen panda ROO but I haven’t been wearing the watch as I favor the newer 26470 with ceramic bezels. The panda is a beautiful classic and still commands its value and demand. :)

That is also true. The Panda is from 2011 and an H series.
And of course the Franken is also getting older and will eventually get the normal signs of use.

What I have noticed in the last months, also the older ROO's attract a little bit from the prices, of course not comparable to a Royal Oak, but a little increase in price is noticeable.

Among the "older" used 42mm steel 26170ST ROOs, the panda commands the most value, and that is because until today, the look of the watch is a classic and it will never go out of trend. I foresee a future update done with a black ceramic bezel, 26470 style dial markers, and a black dw with white fonts. I am surprised it has not been done yet but as long as this isn't the 26170ST Panda will continue to hold its value, and even appreciate, as it is a collector model given its classic appeal. Gen AP ownership is something only gen AP owners will understand. VISUALLY, the gen watch cannot be worth 3x the franken price, but value wise, the watch is in a different league altogether. I will have no hesitation to sell my best franken or even genstein Panda if I own one, if I already own the gen. When you put them side by side, I agree that the visual differences are minimal. But like I mentioned, gen is gen, and there will always be the discernible tactile feel of the gen which you cannot get from any franken.
You are right also about the ridiculous Royal Oak prices right now.. I own 2x 15500 and 2x 15400, and all but one were purchased at retail prices and I can easily sell each of them for nice profit today. But such isn't the priority of a watch collector.
Congrats on your panda though, it is a very nice watch and I think you chose well.
