Wednesday errands and late lunch with M2M "v2" XF FC Diver w/ 2xAR cyclops.

Learned a lot from that M2M sale and glad I had a brand new v3 for comparison. It came with a JF strap which was super flappy, gummy, and thinner than the XF. I took it to my local watchmaker to swap straps but he said the tube screw was stripped. Turns out the tube screw was super glued into one of the black straps so I ended up just swapping the plots from my v3 instead of sacrificing the strap. That's when I discovered the plots were the same too. If bezel and plots are all the same...what makes this a v2? Lastly, this experience also led to my self-imposed 5% rule: moving forward I will not spend a total of more than 5% of a given model's MSRP. For me, that's the sweet spot before I start wondering about just going gen.

That all being said, this is my favorite watch of my small collection! Thanks for reading this rambling. You always remember your first...lol lol

And at least now I know how to swap straps haha

I agree.
The ceramic/titanium model is easy to wear and has its weight distributed in a balanced way. I really do prefer the ceramic pushers/crown/bezel VS the traditional rubber ones. Like you said it does feel and look more refined and contemporary.
The open caseback is an added advantage for owners to admire the movement decoration and details and of course inhibit accurate duplication in reps and frankens. This is why I encourage my friends to get the new generation ROOs instead of the older generation ones. You do not see convincing reps or frankens of them around, if they are even repped at all. I do however like the rep Dark Knight. I think that has been replicated very well even if I own the gen. Here is a casual comparison of the gen vs the rep modded 2018 Dark Knight. I will say that it is a very good reproduction. Of course the usual flaws exist but in real life it’s close. :)

Which one is GEN?
Is there any other variant which is close to GEN like this Dark Knight?
I am considering to mod ROO and don't know which to choose.
Thanks for the photo.

If you cannot tell, it is good news for you. ;)
But seriously, look closely and you will be able to tell which is gen.
As for advice on choices, it is a highly subjective matter and it is hard to give an answer.
ALL ROO reps are flawed, just to varying extents and in different aspects.
Eventually and always, it boils down to what you can live with, and what you can't in this hobby.
