Here's another hand mod I did just yesterday. Long story but I had to switch movements from a 2824 to a Miyota 9015 to fit the case due to stem height. Already had the desired ETA hands and the replacement movement so I chose this approach.

This case was supposed to fit a 2824 but I tried every way possible to do it and this is the best I could do. Pic is with a dial spacer shaved so thin it that it goes only around the movement and not down to the outer ledge it would normally sit on. So essentially it's a thin flat washer sitting on top of the movement. I even flattened the ledge on the minute wheel cover that contains the DW as this build is a no date.

Stem heights
2824 - 1.85mm
9015 - 1.50mm

Both images are with the 2824. Lines were added to help illustrate the issue. The crown would barely catch the tube and not turn at all. From this upside down case perspective, the crown plunger sits high in the tube with an even higher angle off.

I seldom throw any parts away, and while I have some 9015 hands I could have scavenged a hole surround from, I have dozens of cheap hands that come with new replacement movements.

Only the ETA minute hand needed this mod, the ETA second hand was crimped.

Hole sizes HMS
ETA - 150/90/25
9015 - 152/100/17

First the target ETA minute hand gets its collar sanded off.

Then a freebie ETA hand supplies the hole surround. The hole was enlarged with a round diamond file then the surround was trimmed down to hide behind the target surround. These freebie hands are actually very strong and decently polished - I've thought about using them in a cheapie DJ, etc. They have a little crease in them, which I opted to keep as it makes a great little epoxy reservoir.

Add some drops of BSI 30 minute epoxy and spread them around into a bead.

Wait about 20 minutes for the bead to harden up some. This prevents spillover. Then plop it on and nudge it around as necessary.
