Hi my watch has arrived from the TD PureTime however on checking parcel force tracking website there is a message that says the item is being held for custom clearance. Is this normal? How long does this normally take to clear?

Hi, mine did exactly the same, they kept it for a few days too then released it without any duties being required.

Perfectly normal. It’ll either be released or you’ll get a letter from parcel force asking for payment of duty due plus and admin fee.
Probably just sail through though.

I'd imagine customs are swamped with gifts etc. at this time of year, probably nothing to worry about.

Hi, just an update. I was checking the tracking and noticed I got hit with Custom Charges!!!! I called ParcelForce and they have given me the cost I need to pay once they pick it up and get it to the depot.

Now I am not concerned about the fee, more so that the watch is now clear of being seized. Parcel force claim once the fee has been paid, it’ll be sent possibly Friday or Monday.

I must say say this is a nerve wracking experience!!

Probably they have been reading your post here on RWI and since you were moaning decided to make you regret this purchase furthermore

I’ve only had 3 deliveries to the UK and never had a problem, I guess it’s the luck of the draw if a certain percentage of packages are checked in detail.
What is the revised charge?

I've never had charges on deliveries from China, but I have had them from stuff from the States. Usually the charges are revised to add vat on top of the duty.
That must have been a lot of watches to have a £20 charge knowing the valuations usually put on by the TDs.

Double unlucky really, they came back for a second bite!

You would think they'd be too busy to have a second go at the same package.

That’s a good point but surely they won’t use the TDs valuation?
I wonder if they use some other mechanism to determine the value of a rep, hence the revised charge?
Very interesting and unfortunate in equal measures.

Maybe TD paid your charge then your package will be forwarded very soon.

As an update. The parcel has been released from customs, I rang parcel force and was given a minimal fee to pay, it’s now at the National Depot.l on route to delivery depot.

I collected the watch today from the depot and all was ok. Thanks to those who responded. Much appreciated

experiencing the same problem at the moment, also watch from puretime.

Messaged puretime and they told me they will pay the charges.

Anyway, does that mean they opened the package?

Hi, they hadn’t opened my package and all was ok. It was marked up as a toy Watch by the TD. I had to pay 3.00 which was the tax and 15.00 which was Parcel Force handling fee. If customs had of opened it, I’m pretty sure it would have been seized.

I’m really impressed with the watch. The timing is spot on, hasn’t lost time and hasn’t stopped. I will be buying again. What watch did you go for?
