UK Customs Seizures

Hi, I am from the UK but after reading this I am a bit worried about trying to get a rep through customs here. Does anyone know if I would be better off having it delivered to Australia? I have family there who are due to fly over soon, so would it be safer to do this? Thanks

Spoke to Parcelforce just now and they said can take up to a month to get through customs!!

Everything apparently coming in from ASIA is being screened. Huge crackdown apparently!

i have had no contact from them so fingers crossed itll arrive sometime

If they said that everything from Asia was being screened, that adds clout to the rumours of Richemont paying extra customs. I wonder how anything is getting through.

well as i said earlier i had 3 boxes on the way ems. that went in to customs twice which was rare, the update is, the package has cleared, but witha £30 charge, should be delivered by friday, will let you know if its been opened.

It would appear nothing is getting through without being screened either by opening or xray.

I reckon that if these private company/ies are x-raying items that have suspect content, which in our case would be watches, then these have to be handed back to UK customs which i can only assume is the "forwarded for UK processing part" which, then customs see package again and check if item has to be opened. Due to UK HMRC legislation i assume they are the only body authorised to open packages? I accept fully if i am jibber jabbering here but im just thinking out loud.....hmmmm....

Who knows.

Is there know one or anyone that knows whats actually going on??

I up until a few months ago (before olympics) knew that customs were cracking down at the coventry hub.This was due to me knowing of people working at this site. I am know longer working with them anymore so I'm in the same boat as everyone else.

I hope my package clears customs. Had the new Clark inserts arrive today so hoping i actually get to install them into these babies!!

What "private companies"?
An Officer of Customs has the authority to require the Royal Mail to open for examination any postal packet being imported or exported.
There are no private companies involved in opening packages.

I've had a recent package through and according to the tracking details cleared the east midlands facility in less than 2 hrs. I was pre-warned by the TD that there were known to be some UK Customs issues but they didn't seem to effect. Could just be a hit and miss situation.

My package just arrived - I ordered with UK triangle shipment, the package
went onto its travel August 21, went through customs a week later, and another
week later, 2 Noob Pams arrived here in Austria.

Seems that either Coventry customs is a lottery, or that things were temporary.

I've had an order in the UK since 31/08/2012, I am currently trying to resist the urge to use the 'contact button' on the parcelforce site and just wait it out. It is showing as 'received and processed' and has not changed in 8 days.....

Customs Rolex LV

Hi,

This is my first post and the reason Im posting is that my Rolex LV has been in Customs for a month now, which is pretty long.
It arrived from china with EMS through Parcelforce at the begining of August. I have lodged a question to them asking where my package is and it has been hard to get a respose, No letter, no calls just nothing.
A little stuck on what to do as I speant $400 on the Rolex.
I usually have my watches sent through Royal mail from Malaysia and have never had a problem.....

If you've had no calls, no letters, then you just have to wait. It's in the system someplace.
