Hi OP. I'm a newbie here and my wife is complaining I'm spending too many hours here reading and learning. I'm keen to get a Tudor as my first rep and this has encouraged me. I wanted to know 2 things:

1. Did you ever consider the Black Bay (I love the red one). If so what were the reasons why you did not go for them? The rep quality perhaps?
2. What were the reasons for rejecting the first 2 QC for the Pelagos?

Thanks!!!

Hi, I know im not the OP, but as an owner of both watches i can give you an answer as well. I always loved the Black Bay and wasnt really a fan of the Pelagos but overall just wanted a Tudor. So when i saw a Pelagos in M2M sales i picked it up. Was positively surprised as it really grew on me and i prefer it over the Black Bay now. (It was a 2 Line V6F so the new ones are even better). The Black Bay Red is a really great watch but it doesnt give the overall satisfaction that a Pelagos gives. The Pelagos just seems to have everything whereas the BB is a lot simpler and more of dress watch than a daily beater. The design of the Pelagos is just beautiful with the Date, the squares and the Lume on all the numbers. Both are rgeat watches but if you can only get one i would get the Pelagos. It will give you more pleasure overall imo.

Thanks for the reply. I was initially more struck by the Black Bay because I saw a waitress wearing it and it looked so nice. Delving deeper into Tudor I found the Pelagos really beautiful as well. Both seem very well repped so it makes the decision real hard. I'm leaning towards the Black Bay for now. If I really really love Tudor then I might also get blue or LHD Pelagos. Has anyone pressure tested their Tudor reps and what was the outcome? Does ZF make pretty waterproof Tudors?

I have the Black Bay Red it's a great watch. I compared it with a gen (only in an ADs display window) and it really looked the business!

Man only one rep ?!? Well you got a great first rep cause the Pelagos truly is a super rep (i owned the GEN and even did a compare with ZF factory). Thanks for sharing :)
Brrroooo. I've haven't got any reps yet but have been on this forum for ages! I literally get a mini adrenaline rush just browsing this place - weird I know! I need to man up and purchase imho haha.

Do you mind posting the link to your comparison? I am currently on the waiting list at my local TD for the new Black Bay steel and gold but have always loved the Pelagos as well. It might be my daily beater if I end up pulling the trigger on the Gen black bay..

Although I love the pelagos and think factories did a decent job repping it, I would not consider this as a super rep (sorry but PAMs and rolexes get criticized over a tiny little fault that can only be seen under 100x magnification...and pelagos is simplynot there). I really like this watch and wanted to buy the ZF version (of the blue) so badly but after rejecting every single one of them...I did quit. To this day, I am yet to see a pelagos (especially the blue one) with properly aligned hour markers. I mean every single rep I have seen (on td website or here on the forum) had crooked hour markers. And if you own one, I recommend not to look at it carefully because once you see it you cannot unsee it :)

It is a great rep nonetheless..case and feel is spot on, heck even the colors are spot on....the moment day fix the hour marker alignment, I will jump the gun one more time.

If the hour markers are your only concern then go and get one and have it fixed by your rep friendly watchsmith...it's that easy :)

Looking to get a blue, but i'm concerned about the movement...how long should they last until they breakdown?

It is really not that easy doc, adjusting those markers is a taks that not every wsmith is willing to do (risk of damaging the dial etc..). Having said that KW v2 versions seems to have decent marker alignment (ZF is still horrible) so I think I am going to give that one a try.

Assuming you don't do anything too crazy, the A2824's look like rock solid ETAs. It will last as long as it should last pending servicing and what not. Don't be afraid!

I've got an older two line Pelagos. Very solid build and runs as well as my ETA movement watches. It's out with prof now getting a 2AR crystal installed. before this it was a daily wear watch for me. Very light weight and good overall finish.
