Tudor Pelagos V6 Water Resistance

Okay before the flame war begins I offer this, I know no rep is guaranteed water proof.
With that being said I am curious if anyone has have the V6 factory Tudor Pelagos water
tested to see resistance. I wear all my watches, no matter their origin, as much as
possible. Would it be wise to get the V6 I have coming water tested or proofed?
Can it be water proofed? Would it be okay as is for nominal use such as washing dishes
or quick swims in a pool?

Additionally since the V6 is coming with a mechanical movement, would it be wise
to avoid strenuous forces on the watch such as playing racket ball with the watch on?

+1 on OP. I plan on getting one of those beauties, but if water resistance is an issue I just can't.

I guess I won't be a dick. The short answer is yes, it can be water resistant.

However, you should really do some research on the basic theory behind water resistance. Once you know that, you can decide for yourself which reps are candidates for water resistance. You won't have to ask the same question each time you want a new rep.

I tested my Pelagos ZF water resistance and pass 3,5 bar with no problems ( i have only 3,5 bar tester at home, but i will take it to a watchsmiths to test it at 10bar)
I think th V6 is same construction, so in theory it will be waterproof. It has all gaskets to be WR, BUT you need to test it to be in the safe side before wash dishes :)

Most of my REPs are waterproof...

With my PAM177 I also was in the sauna and hot tub, but all this after greasing the seals!

I. Had my zf tested to 5atm today it failed. I have washed dishes and worn it in bath/shower with no problems. I wouldn't swim with it as I have other watches that are designed for that.

I have rrgreased the gaskets and tightened everything up as much as I can but it still failed. The gas escape valve seems semi functional on the zf as I can push it out with a screwdriver when pushing from the inside it springs back in no problem and feels like there is a gasket in there too. My guess is its the hev which is making this watch fail.

I don't trust any rep w an hev for water-resistance unless it's sealed from the inside.
As for the mechanical movement issue -I've dropped my watches on the floor (hard) tons of times with no issues. If I had to worry about breaking movements by strenuous activities I wouldn't buy the things :)

Get a rep tested first. It could be waterproof by the time it leaves the factory, it could be not. The same goes true for a movement - could be perfect, could be junk. I once had a movement with a chinese pubic hair in it, just sayin...

I ride cross motorbikes and they used to ruin my watches due to vibration. I've since given up and wear Quartz watches then. I expect high impact sports such as Squash, racketball or even Golf would do the same to a rep movement. Gen - no problem. Asian movement? Depends...

Today i have adjusted the movement and i need to take out the crown stem. The crown has 3 "o" rings like the gen, so theoretically there's no problems with wr. The caseback also have a decent gasket installed. Only remain the He valve and the crystal gasket check.
BTW: the gaskets are dry all of them, so i put a little silicone grease on it.

I took apart the HEV on mine, its a ZF and its pretty dry even though ZF claims they grease it. I did, however, find some dried up green residue that I cleaned up with acetone and alcohol. I think it's their attempt to 'grease it'. Its now cleaned and greased. I'm waiting for the ETA 2824-2 movement I ordered, will get it pressure tested once I get the movement in.

edit: ZF claimed they grease the HEV better than V6, so I am guessing the V6 HEV gasket will not be sufficiently greased to be watertight

Hoow did you even get the mvt, dial out. I can't even get the holder/mvt out at all. I want to grease or seal up the hev on my zf.

Images will be lovely on this thread. I plan on getting one of these as the gen has been on my list since the announcement. If I can get the rep to work just as well, then I will just franken it.

The HEV is always the weakest link in most cases. If the movement of the HEV is as per gen(out from the case) then it should be fairly easy to ensure it stays dry.

My old SSD had the same arrangement as per gen and always took it diving. 70+ feet on average with no issues.

franken is going to be more than 60% of the gen if you are trying to source a gen tudor movement. but from what I read 2824-2 is readily available in elaborate and standard grade (tudor uses top grade, which has been tested in 2 more positions and is +/-2 sec more tighter in tolerance than the next grade.

I am purchasing an brand new elaborate swiss ETA 2824-2 for this project, which puts my final cost of this franken with a generic ETA at ~$600 (1/7th of the price of a the gen) I'll get pictures when the movement comes in 2 weeks.

i've got my eyes on a ZF from Psychospike and I'd like to be able to at least wear it in the shower. I'll spend the extra $40 and send it to Vac and have him test it.

how do a watch with an auto HEV get pressure tested? I assume there will always be a stream of gas bubbles coming out of the HEV... it is designed to release gas buildup inside the case

No
because the watch is pressurized before putting in the water and the only way it would have a gas buildup is if there was a leak

If the watch is indeed sealed properly then the watch will not pressurize internally, hence there will be no bubbles coming out.

However, if there is a leak, air might seep in, at say, the crystal gasket, but upon decompression , it will leak out at the weakest point, which might be the HEV.

So if it does have a leak, the HEV could make locating the actual leak problematic.

Okay, officially had it tested at a local shop. Here are my personal results from a V6 Tudor I purchased form another forum member. After the seals were greased they said that the watch held at a 500m equivalent depth with no leak. Which is right around 40atm? Personally I'm a little skeptical haha, but they are a reputable local jeweler so I will take their word for it that this baby is definitely not going to leak while cleaning dishes :)
