The P39 just feels too much like a hamburger on my wrist. It is the same problem that a lot of Omega watches have. Even with better proportions, the P39 would be far from a Submariner copy cat. The bezel, the dial, the hands, etc. It is a very unique watch.I see what you’re saying I just like how it’s more chunky, the 124 no doubt is the perfect watch in my eyes, that’s why it’s my grail. I just like how the p39 is basically the opposite of the sub in every way with the same design, shape, material, dimensions…If it was too similar I would have no use for it. To me it’s a rugged version of the modern sub.
Difficult to really compare images like this taken with different cameras.Such a good representation, I fully agree, it's a bit out of proportion at the moment and the fix above would make it perfect
..... well, if it had a date too.....
I think you're correct. Based on the video, it is definitely the very thick mid case, or "case wall" as the YouTuber calls it, that creates the hamburger-on-wrist effect of the Tudor. I never actually put it side by side with my 126610 like in this video. On my wrist, it was clear enough that there was some major difference in proportions. To each their own, I suppose.Difficult to really compare images like this taken with different cameras.
The difference in lug to lug is about 1.5mm or 3%. The Pelagos is actually thinner overall but has a thicker mid case. As per usual I think if they'd tried to thin the mid case out, putting more thickness into the caseback and bezel area instead, it would have resulted in a better aesthetic, and probably has just as much of an effect on the appearance of the lugs as the lug to lug length. Not sure why Tudor always makes the mid cases so visually heavy.
Anyway, lots of direct comparison pics here;

As much as I advocate for expanding your boundaries when it comes to the type of watches you experience, most of our time is spent in the middle of our lane. These are the comfort food of watches, the sweet spot you keep coming back to. For me, these are typically simple divers or tool […]wornandwound.com
I love the P39 overall. The case doesn't bother me like it does on the BB Pro. While the mid case is noticably thicker than my (gen) 16570 I think it still works. Sometimes I think maybe the 16570 case is too thin! Haha. All personal opinions of course so no one is really right or wrong. We're probably just all a bit too nostalgic for 5 digit Rolexes![]()
