Halfway through re stitching. I have a new respect for strap makers. Ugh.

Thanks. It took way too long. Lol. About 2 hours while watching TV and intermittently playing with my dog.

It was relatively easy, except the original stitching wasn't that good. The holes were all uneven, and it was obviously machine stitched in a way that was annoying to rip out.

I picked up this thread:

And doubled it up into a big loop with a standard needle at each end and did a saddle stitch. There's YouTube videos showing how to do it.

Just left the local AD and they want $180 for the leather strap/buckle. Not bad. I'm jaded by AP and Breitling prices.

That's great news. For gen strap + buckle, it's a steal.

Nice restitch Raji.

on my homage version I put a black strap with white stitching and love it.

Jeff, the strap doesn't fill the lugs. Stitch looks so-so.. You can do better.

The $180 for the strap and buckle isnt bad at all! Is it a tang buckle or a deployment clasp that comes with the gen? If its 180 for the leather w/ deployment I may pick one up after I finally pick up a Black Bay from one of the TDs in the near future (and by near future, Feb 10th can't get here fast enough)

Nice restitch Raji.

Thanks! High praise coming from the Strap Maker of the Year! ;) Definitely not something I want to do on a regular basis. Probably would have been much faster if I had the strap in a vise and I was able to stitch with a needle in each hand.

I'm not sure if I like the look of the gen Tudor clasp and strap. It looks like it's backwards when I do a google image search. The buckle/keeper end is at 6 o'clock and the end with the holes is at 12 o'clock. If you do it the "normal" way (reversed) then the clasp reads upside down and doesn't look like a shield anymore.

Couldn't find any comments or reviews on the gen forums about the backwards orientation, so I'm interested to hear how you like it Beemer.

I went to order and he now claims a mistake was made. $180 is just the strap. He is going to get back to me on the buckle. Already sounding like a ripoff , considering I can buy everything new for under $3k.

Yeah I saw recent posts saying £150 strap and £220 clasp, and that was after a small discount. Not sure of the conversion offhand but I'd guess it's an extra $300 for that clasp.

Here is the official price.

Strap is $180
Buckle is $255

Screw that ! You can have a strap made from an old belt you steal off a homeless guy, and it will look the same. They can keep their overpriced shit.

Yeah, I don't like the Tudor Buckle either. I could wear an aftermarket buckle or strap. (Poor homeless fellers, with no belts, thanks to Bimmer. ;)) I do like it on the SS strap it comes with although Mesh looks pretty cool. This isn't a watch I would normally go after but I decided to give one a try. It'll be here in a couple of days.
