HI,

So i borrowed my colleagues gen BB for two minutes today and was able to snap a couple of shots. Im sorry i couldnt get more photos but he really didnt appreciate me taking photos of his watch. Im no expert so i will leave the comments to you, and im sure a proper gen-rep comparison will be posted soon.

But i can tell you about the look and feel of the watch compared to gen. And in short.. its great. The rep has the same "presence" as the gen, and feel almost as good when holding it. The edges of inner lugs and a few edges of the bracelet is not as refined as the gen, but with a bit of love and sandpaper you can easily reach the same feel. The weight is spot on.

The crystal is the big difference if you have the rep against the gen. But only at some angels you notice that the curved parts of the crystal is not polished as the gen (on the inside of the crystal). Also the rep crystal sits a tiny bit higher then the gen. But don't get me wrong, the crystal is great on the rep, just not polished/shaped exactly as the gen.

Color of dial/hands look the same, even though we know they are not. But its not something you notice without a magnifier. Same with the pearl, no one noticed that its not 1:1.

Best part today was when my whole department had a coffee break and we compared the watches. My colleagues laughed out high when they found out that there is a 3000$ price difference between the two watches. That makes it a no brainier for me.. this is a great rep all in all!

Sorry for the photos. Used a Samsung S4 and shaky hands.. ;)

Can tell by the SEL fit and the pearl but they're dame close. You really have to know what your are looking for to spot them.

What i can tell you the differens between them are so small when you look at them in the wild. You need to have the gen next to it to notice any differens. My boss who owns the gen was very, very impressed.

Crystal has a very polished curved edge on the gen, some minor differences on the strap, pearl, etc but the overall feel is amazing on this watch. Mine came today and the quality of the metal is intense, on par with TC sub parts. It is really substantial and solid. It is nothing like a noob sub versus gen or tc, this thing feels gen.

The crystal is the giveaway here but I can bet u 99.99% of the people will not be able to tell from the wrist. And probably most can't tell unless side by side.

Thats a good statement. Cause 99% of the ppl are just like you. Noone will know the difference. The feel of the rep is just great, even compared to gen. It looks like a gen, not a cheap rep. Thats why this watch is great, even though there are a few differences to the gen.

This watch feels like gen. It's really solid and oozes a quality. I do not have a gen Black Bay to compare with but I own gen Sub C and Explorer II so I think I know what a gen feels like. This watch is THE BOMB.

Yeah, the crystal and the pearl for me....although i wouldn't have been able to tell you that without seeing Gen V Rep side by side. I still want one as i think they look fantastic.

yeah, I think I'll wait for a V2 to come out to fix the crystal and the pearl would be a bonus fix.

Thanks for the side by sides. It does look like a nice watch for the price. For those waiting for a V2, I'm sure you'll be waiting a rather long time.

The more I look over the rep versus the gen, the more impressed I am! Now that I have gotten rid of the sharpies that were irritating the heck out of me on delivery day, I am quickly falling in love. For those of you that are interested, here are some nice macro pictures of the gen. Maybe one of our star photographers can take similar pictures of the rep so we can do a hardcore side by side comparison:
