As quiet a few members i couldnot resist to Toro's offersa on the BR02 range .
my personal taste led me to the PVD version of the BR02 instrument ( non chrono ) with numerals .

obviously a bit wondering about the NO QC on the christmass promo . some members were wondering if Toro was dropshipping them ( hence the no QC)

well he is not as i ordered a IWC cousteau at the same time and got the treatment for which toro is now famous ,
ordered day 1
qc day 2
sent day 3
received day 5 .....

is it that those rep are qc reject / seconds or that toro just cant be bothered with qc and nitpickers on such a low offer price .

someone reported that his watch arrived with a small defect in AR and a little ding in the pvd coating .

well mine has got a very small crack in the orange ring around the HE valve and the bezel dooesnot align perfectly when engaged on a click . lume on the triangle could have been done a bit better i guess

i am personally not bothered at all by it and i guess those small imperfections might even happens when buying a full price rep .

as usal
thanks a lot toro !!

please accept my apology for the lack of technical knowledge and lingo , learning every day and trying to pass info to potential buyer with my limited amount of knowledge .

just to confirm that :
inner bezel does rotate by unscrewing the top right pusher .
asian eta 2824.2 ( seems to wind in both direction , no free spinning, gears moving when rotor moves in both directions ) )
engraved rotor .
green lume instead of blue as gen .

IN MY OPINION A KEEPER !! loves it to bits

now onto some pics
thanks

very nice, love the lume shot :)

thanks .
cheating a bit i guess . i do a quick shot ( no long exposure ) in the dark after 1min of " charging "the lume with the led flash light of my mobile phone .
in real life the lume will not be noticable after 15 minutes unfortunately .

i might send it for a blue relume if that is possible

It doesn't specify anywhere that these are rejected watches. Without implication as such I'd probably question the problems with the watch. I understand he isn't doing QC without charging full price, but I had assumed this was because the sale caused a huge influx in orders and the QC slows them down.

I think it is wrong to assume what you're buying is going to be defective as Toro has not said that would be the case. I can't say I'd be happy with either of those defects. The misaligned bezel probably wouldn't bother me as much as the cracked HEV though. I purchased the Pro Dial version of this exact watch so if the bezel doesn't align it won't be nearly as noticeable since it has a fat indice at the top.

I purchased it under the assumption that it was of the same quality of a full priced model and he was running a holiday deal.

i certainly understand your point of view . the fact that mine has got some minors defaults ( as is someone s else ) might be down to simple bad luck . when i read that some members get full prices doa watches , or full price rep running 4 min fast an hour , not resetting to 0 and so on ; i can say that i wont raise hell for 2 little hic hup on a watch i paid a lot less than what they usually go for .
i didnot assume it would come with some defect , but was prepared for it ... shall i have paid full price for it and gotten qc i wont have noticed the problem until i take my macro shots anyway .

please let me know if yours is having some slight problem has well when you get it and if this seems to be that indeed toro has been sending seconds without clearly stating it i guess mods will want to get involved .

cheers

Agree 100 percent. Ordered a SS non Chrono 02 thinking it was a holiday sale. I would not order if they were QC rejects. Not saying they are but I should have mine in a few days and I'll find out.

Hmm, here's a shot of the movement in mine from Toro, same watch, PVD with numerals.

2012-12-18-20-06-14.jpg

Did one of us get shafted on the movement? Mine's definitely 28,800VPH, and it looks like it has an ETA logo and 2824 stamped (couldn't get a good pic) but it didn't come with the anti-magnetic piece either...

No alignment issues or PVD scratches on mine.

oops
new controversy coming up
glad you posted as well

the mvt i got is 288800vph . winding up both ways , bell&ross engraved rotor , engraved 2824/2 . sligthly on the left of the 2824/2 is engraved another number which looks to me like V8A 2 or V8A12. slightly on the right the eta logo is engraved as well .

i managed to align the inner bezel by turning into a half click position . i removed the sapphire glass and the bezel to have a look at the construction . i seems it is only one piece with teeth under and numbers , sticks and triangle applied straight to the plasctic bezel , so i dont see how i can mod it ....

anyobe can clarify the difference in mvt ?
would be glad if toro jumps in ....

Andrew/Trusty shows these two models on his site, and yours definitely looks like the correct movement.

Although, after browsing around, it also looks quite similar to the the 2836 super clone that Smidsy reviewed here: http://www.repgeek.com/showthread.php?t=149097

I couldn't say for sure what actual model number is engraved on mine, so it could be 2836. I need to get a loupe to be sure.

Maybe I lucked out after all. Although I haven't found an 02-92 on any TDs site that offers Asian 2836...

Interesting, I'll let you guys know what is under the hood on mine when I get it. But it appears to be stuck in a Sorting Center Loop in Beijing.. I hope it finds its way here soon :(

i ll measure mine in the morning and post here , cheers
otherwise why dont you try shrinking it by boiling it in water , i did this on a motorbike gasket , never did it on a watch one , please dont held me responsible if that fails . boiling will remove the lubricant on it so oil will need to be reapplied

measured today . sorruy forgot yesterday . 34mm
i guess you can double check by unscrewing the back and measuring the diameter of the grove where the gasket will go . thickness looks like 1mm ( once again you can check on yours how wide the groove is ).

quote and pic from suncoast from another thread :

I love the BR02 of the 3 it'll probably get the most wrist time just cause it's comfortable and not as bulky as the others a little more practical. I took the back off to check what the movement looked like and was surprised to find this jewelled asian 2824 movement. Very nice!!
