I'm dealing with issues right now with WJ. If he's as stand up as other members say, then I'm sure I've got nothing to worry about. If he's not, I'll certainly share what's going on with my watch. I'm going to give him an opportunity to fix the issues first but for anyone considering on using WJ, maybe pause for a moment or two. More updates to follow. PM me if anyone is also dealing with him. Any Rolex aficionados in the Mississauga Brampton region? I'd love to meet up and show what's going on.

We would usually just meet up in downtown Toronto for drinks every few weeks and just talk about watch stuff. Let me know if you're keen on joining us

Hmmm. I've taken several watches to him now for repairs and waterproofing and have never had an issue. Would you mind telling us about the issue you're having?

I have used the watch repair guy on Spadina (near Nassau St) . He does a fine job repairing my TC LV waterproofing , fixing the hour hands and some other work.
He charged me under $100 for it. (But I had to do the bezel myself he won't do it)

He charged me almost $200 just to do a bezel assembly swap on my gen SMP300 and he had no idea how to do it so he pried on it and scratched all the corners of the lugs...

Yeah but without lazer welding the case shape will change. You should look up how Al Archer has refinished cases after other "watchsmith have butchered them.

Well your story and I think a couple of others should be enough for people to know they should never let this guy near their watches

How much does he charge for waterproofing?

Keep off David's Watch Repair at Times Square Plaza in Richmond Hill. This isn't to bash on his business, though i've brought him a couple of watches (Both AP Diver and PAM390).

- Firstly, he scratched my AP dial. He did not know it was a REP, but if it was a GEN piece, I would seriously feel bad for the owner.
- He "polished" my PAM390 for $60 and still came out with a new scratch/chip and improper polishing technique on the caseback. The polish was good (he outsources the polish work), but he ruins the watch during his installation due to his eyesight.

He loves using sharp tweezers without taking very much care on what's around the watch. He uses cheap Chinese tools, never seen Bergeon. I would seriously stay away from David. Not even for battery replacements.

Sorry to say, but he's after quantity, not quality. I'm surprised he has a lot of watches (very expensive ones) being given to him by his clients. I'm not sure how his reputation was built even on word of mouth, but I seriously do not recommend him.

WJ all the way. He may overcharge a little bit, but he warranties his work and is all about the finer details.
Shane Ede is another alternative, though I have heard of people saying that he's picky with REP vs GEN pieces.

Any other recommendations from watchsmiths around Toronto would be great.

Hi guys, that's an interesting topic. I'll bring my Seamaster to JW next week and will keep you posted on my experience with them.

Here is my update. I brought my watch to WJ. He checked them and identified the issue right on spot (5-10 mins). Few things needed to be changed + I insisted to tear them apart, clean and lube. It cost me 180 altogether. They accept only cash so keep that in mind.
After 2.5 weeks my watch was ready for pick up. After his service, my watch was in a very good shape (no major scratches or anything crazy like other guys have reported from other watch repair guys). WJ gave me the warranty on their job for 1 year.
Now I'm using them for a week since my pick up. So far everything is working well, but I'll keep you updated if something will come up.
Hope that feedback will help other guys like me, who still haven't figured out where to service their babies.

WJ is King. They know the Datejust inside out and can tell your endlinks if they belong to that watch.
