To Service, or to Replace - That is the Question

Hey all,

I'm about to ship out my AP 15400 for a thorough pampering 2x AR + Lume + Waterproofing, and have recently started to sway on the last part of the treatment; the movement.

Should I have the Miyota serviced? or should I buy another movement and have the Miyota gutted out and replaced?

Now for some background, this is my grail rep and I'm looking to get it about as nice as I can without going franken and pumping too much $$$ into it.

Is replacing the Miyota worth it? Any idea what I would replace it with (in a TF 15400 case), and how much that would run?

Appreciate any input or insight you guys have.

Servicing is always better if you have the right watchsmith.

Servicing is always better if you have the right watchsmith.

I'm planning to ship it out and have Vac do the initial service. Finding a local watch smith has come to no avail (at least none of a skill level I would let touch even my $100 Seikos). I will likely be relocating in the next 2-3 months though so I suppose I could simply have Vac service it and try to find a watch smith from that point forward.

Would there be no worthwhile longevity or accuracy gains by making a switch?

I think VAC outsources his work now. I haven't had the best experience with him. He used to give me amazing work but now I figure he's swamped with clients and it's a hit or miss.

Ouch, any other suggestions CONUS for mods then? Looking for the full package.

Miskiped. I have resorted to smuggling my watches back and forth to Domi. So far so good

Hahahaha I had heard mention that that was an option. What sort of turn around have you been getting?

******* slow as frozen Mudd. But what I get back is 100% what I expect. I have never had one single issue with Domi. He's perfection. Im on shipment 9 to him

Shit lol ... See ... I'm kind of a worrier so I'd be dreading the shipping process, but from what I've seen of all of his mods, there really isn't any comparison.

I basically have as much as $500 USD to get it as near to Franken calibre as possible.

If you were in my shoes, who would you send it to and what would you get done?

Lol yeah. I mean it's a six month process. I find somebody who's going over usually every six months. I had to get my 15400 strap to Jacob so it was a no Brainer. To Europe is the tricky part. Usually coming back to the US customs is a little more lax.

Searching the forums and checking the modder list I can't find Miskiped. How can I get in touch with them?

CONUS
VAC has done a bit of work for me lately. He mentioned last time that he has stopped taking as many orders and guarantees 10 day turn time now. I got my DJII serviced and was on its back to me inside 36 hours.
