So I figured I would post this, in case anyone else finds it useful...

I recently was on Amazon and saw this Vastarry Timegrapher for about 50 US..knowing that you always get what you paid for, I did not have great expectations, but I decided to give it a go anyway...here are my findings (Search for Vastarry Timegrapher on Amazon):

-The device basically hooks up via USB to your computer, and it simply becomes a Microphone, a device that can now be used with software.
-They provide a QR code to go and download their software, but I DID NOT do that...I chose to use the software from http://www.watchoscope.com/ which is free for the basic version, and really all that is needed.
-15minutes later, I had the thing working pretty well, and so far, I have to say it does a pretty darn good job in Analyzing a Mechanical Movement.

My test was done with my recently acquired VSF PAM 1025 (p.9010). Here are some results I got with pics.

Here is the Device On Amazon

Here are some shots I Took of the Device, with my PAM 1025 in it's jaws (it has a spring Loaded holder-plastic, so no scratches). The bar in the back is metal, so I decided to put a piece of tape around it, to further protect against possible scratches to the watch case.

And here are some results from the software. The software also has a scope functions, that will allow you to see how well the watch signal is being read by the microphone, and you can basically see the "heartbeat" of the watch in the image. After that, you just press the Analyze button, and the software will do the rest. You can see here, that this movement is doing pretty darn good!

These results are right in line with the QC video I got before the watch was shipped, so I say this little thing with the software is working pretty well!

Anyway, you might want to giver it a try for the 50 bucks it costs, if you are looking for something pretty straight forward and basic, with decent results.

Cheers!
