hi folks,

as I promised I´d like to make an update with a few more pics on every step I take to waterproof my watches.

this time I took my 111

I took off CG...which is easy...just remove the two screws and the CG will go off the case

after this, I removed the caseback...i use an opener which I got from a seller on ALI, which was cheap and works well...

well, after that I took out the gasket between caseback and case and gave it a silicon bath.

I removed the stem

then removed the movement holders and took the movement with the dial out of the case...I stored it under a glass to avoid dust on the dial...

so here we got the empty case...

I greased the seals in the case...best is to use a toothpick

then I greased the stem

I use PML grease W 10 S for both of it btw.

then I put everything back in place without the dial and movement for the first test...

IMG_3073_zps0ghyo0ge.jpg

throw it in the water AND?! - no bubbles at all having a bath under pressure ... seems ok ...

IMG_3074_zps0ktzlhzr.jpg

IMG_3076_zpsjhadz2uy.jpg

then I disassembled everything again and put back the dial in its´ place and because the watch is open I will regulate it of course...

IMG_3077_zpsbbhuau20.jpg

it was running well ( +12sec / day ) but I wanted it better...so with lots of feeling and patience...I got it here & think it´s good

reassemble the rest, put some blue loctite on the CG screws and put it in the water again.

Awesome write up! I was wondering, besides engage in high decibel profanity what do you do if the assembled watch leaks on the second test?

it is quite unlike to happen - except I forget a seal...and even if there may be a leak you have a few seconds left before the water goes inside the watch...because of the pressure inside the tester, the watch presses out air in the first moment, before water can enter the watch....its a bit hard for me to explain in english, but there are some tutorials in the www where the explanation about the physics behind this can be found ;)
