I had a meeting like that once and I wore an AP to the meeting. The woman I met decided on the spot she wanted to represent me and be my talent agent.
Was it because of my watch or my portfolio? I'll let you decide.
I would just say though that for roles that are not 'in house' for example consulting or freelance positions it could go either way. You can come across as if you don't NEED the work - they might look at you, see the super expensive watch and think he doesn't need the work or won't appreciate it OR they'll think look at his watch, what was he charging again? No wonder, he has expensive taste and needs to keep up with his lifestyle. On the other hand, they'll see the watch see you and how you present yourself and know they can trust you. You'll never know unless you have an insider who can tell you info from the inside.
I personally keep my reps for my own time, I wear them when I'm not working or when I'm on jobs and I know they'll be ok and safe. I'd never wear a rep to a first meeting because I wouldn't want to think they'd look at my watch and award the work to someone else based on a personal feeling of the amount I might be perceived to be flaunting sitting on my wrist.
