Any thoughts on the best watch to wear to a job interview?

I'm interviewing for a major sales management job next week and am contemplating what to wear.

I have been wearing my PAM 372 almost every day. But I think it might be too big and over stated for this situation. I also wear my Rolex Sub C and Omega 45 CrPO a lot.

Any and all thoughts and suggestions are welcome as this is a huge opportunity for me and I want to ensure I nail it! Thanks!

I vote Omega, not as "cocky" as the Rolex but it says exactly what it needs to. I agree the Pam may be a little bulky especially if you are going to be wearing a suit.

I agree with the omega, just don't wear a pumpkin. Good luck on the interview. More reps to come if you nailed it lol

And maybe some gens too! Thanks!

So Omega CrPO 45 (not a pumpkin) or my Omega 300 which is more understated.

My first rep was a lmpo for that reason, understated but still a statement for those in the know. Just have sht together about the specs and how you got it. You don't want to be saying you have a counterfeit in Pre interview small talk.

Unlikely the interviewer is looking for quality timepieces. He may recognize a Sub and its a Rolex which is a great watch for many salesmen, so that's my pick. ;-)

I always notice what watches people are wearing but in an interview it doesn't bother me, all I care about is whether they are on time and don't answer their phone in the interview (yes some people are that stupid).

My vote goes to the Rolex, else the Planet Ocean. Since it is a sales management job, you need to show that you have taste and the hunger for $$ (to feed your lifestyle), so you will need to sell more! :D

When I interview candidates, i do check out what they wear. If they wear a nice watch, I will break the ice by giving a nice mention of their watch. It helps them to be themselves and be real. That helps when you are trying to find someone that fits the culture of the company.

...Unless i see a bad rep, i may ask which TD did they get it from haha!.. Hey dude, the AR is bad! come, i will tell you where to mod it hehe

In the COURTHOUSE!!
Since you mention what you have been wearing, I take it this is an "in house" opportunity?
If so I would recommend finding out what your future boss wears.
I don't think he would like a Rolex if he is rocking a Timex?
If he's a suit (I am) hard to tuck a PAM under a French cuff. If he commutes out to the Ranch every day? Is he a golfer that's inundated with Rolex ads?

I don't want my salesman having to perform to afford a Rolex lifestyle, I want them hungry enough to perform and I'll buy it for them! Guys on the top of their sales territories get lazy and in my companies get paid out..

Upper management, especially C level executives want similar outlooks from their key people. It helps make all deals negotiations mergers etc.go smoother and results in many less HR issues.

I'm not saying be a copy of anyone, but assuming you know all the corporate culture etc. you should know your future bosses name, his wifes name, charities he goes too, what his wife supports, his kids names, their ages. was/is it a family business etc. etc.. stalk his facebook, linkd in, google them all! You being interested in anything common with the person will win the day for you!

Just pray he doesn't have a sundial in his lobby!:laugh:

Good LUCK !! :greedy:

This.

As much as I don't like this stereotype people see Rolex and think your doing something right financially. In society a Rolex is a symbol of success.

I'd say go with a smaller watch, something that comes out from the cuff without being jammed against it. So no PAM or anything 45mm. The Sub would work, and can be kept hidden if needs be, in case the interviewer uses their 'phone to tell the time!

In the US the above would be called stocking. Why would one need to know bosses wife name since you've never met her for crying out loud? That's a red flag right there... Back to the topic, don't worry about the watch. Wear whatever you are comfortable with. What matters is your portfolio, meaning what is your worth to the company that will hire you, not your watch. They simply don't care but if they do, I'd advise you to seek employment elsewhere.

WOW, looks like I should come work for you if you buy your top performers Rollies!!!

I like this take, however, it is NOT in house. In fact it is an opportunity that takes what I do now and steps it up big time.

I know I need my shit locked down and I will be ready and at ease. But I also know there is one other candidate, so I want to ensure I not only rock the interview, but give them some intangibles to consider like the perfect watch, shoes, and belt. I want to come across that if there is any doubt that the other candidate and I are some what even, that the conversation can tip to, well did you see how well he was dressed etc. I think outward presentation, especially in sales and sales management is a huge component.

Love the comments, please more!!! I think we are trending towards something smaller, like my Sub or Omega 300, both about 40-41mm and not overly thick.

Thanks so much, if I get this job, it will change my life!!!

I totally hear what you guys are saying! I agree, I don't know that anyone there will know what a Navitimer or Omega 300 or CrPO is, or much less care, like we do lol.

I do agree that the American uneducated perception of watches is that Rolex is king. This is a corporate gig, but it's large equipment sales management. I will have a team of 10 if I get it. Right now I sell not as big large equipment and have a team of 5. I work for a small distributor that is family owned, and I am not in the family so I am kind of maxed out for growth. The new opportunity would be me in a Fortune 100 company and the upward mobility would kind of be as much as I could take advantage of based on likability and performance.

I am leaning Sub but only ever so slightly over the 300.
