When I first arrived here at the darkside my first instinct was to buy everything in sight. I quickly realized from the experts here not to just start throwing money everywhere. I saw a wise post that said use the search button "All will be clear" So I did that for many hours and days before I made my first purchase.

What am I saying here? If you are new to the board your first task is not to buy right away. You should spend atleast 2 days on the search button looking at what people are saying about the reps and dealers. My suggestion is find your dealer first and then the watch. I know that alot of people will tell you different but in my case this has worked. when you have found your dealer start chatting with them privately about the watch you want. They will not get mad or call you a N00b for asking questions.

This is not a store front where you walk in and start buying stuff right off the bat. You need to step back and do some research on what you want first. As far as the dealers here they are first class and everyone one of them will bend over backwards for you. Just take some time and look around first and ask questions first before you start spending money. If you do this you will much happier with your watches and dealers. I hope this helps someone. Good luck.

Great post dawg. That is the best way to do it. The time spent reading will be rewarded when your first transaction is complete and a incredible watch is sitting on your wrist!!!!!! Once you do all this, the ask "who's got the best sub???????

LOL. Yes, as like most the first rep I brought was a Sub LV. I do love the watch but now am I buying everything but Rolex. I still wear the Sub as it is a beautiful rep with a Swiss ETA 2836 and keeps time well under + 5 sec a day :!: I do get tired of everyone asking me if it is a rep because it is a Rolex.

Everyone who knows me underatnds I collect reps so now the conversations are more like 'I never heard of Chopard before that is a really nice watch... or, Panerai? What country are those made in?'
Ah, the evolution of a rep collector..

So the real question is who has not brought a Rollie as thier first rep :?: :D

As I have seen many times before, you should do the search first before the plunge.
I know for many new watch aficionados that arrive here, this place can be like a candy store.
It all looks good, and the dealers are superb.
Trust me, take your time & read, then ask questions where there is no flame.

Then buy your ass-off, and put your rejects up for sale cheap...

So true, I think Rolex is what brings us here in the first place. then you see everything else. Now I am even buying LV purses for my daughter. This place is so cool man. Now I am even going to buy a lighter, who would of thought.

I wonder how many people come here looking for watches other than Rolex as their first rep. I for one thought that rollie was the only watch reped. I didnt know about all the others until I found this forum.

HAHAHA, Exactly! That is why my first rep purchase was a prez from Josh. I had to have that Texas Timex. But, since then I cannot get enough of the pams. Gotta love those leather straps to! [smilie=glasses9.gif]
