I have a gen 124060, besides the clasp being huge, most noticeable difference was the sel appeared to be flush to me. It depends on the angle and light greatly. I actually didn’t like that about the watch. If anyone is interested I’ll try and get some shots when I get home.

What do you mean by clasp being huge? Can you please explain?

That's right the SEL is flush or very near flush to the lugs on the genuine 126/124 Subs.

If anyone REALLY wants to mod their SELs, These are the tools necessary to do so. Actually you don't need the one for Jubilee bracelets if you're only doing Oyster bracelets. The one in the center is a vise for pressing the links back together when you're done. It's not 100% necessary but I think it's worth having. I use mine each time I reassemble a bracelet I've modded.

When disassembling the links to perform SEL mod, is it possible to strengthen or reinforce the internal rods?

That’s one thing that worries me about these rep bracelets, the potential failure point from the links

Does anybody know whether it is possible to get VS3135 movements for replacement/spares?

I have one here needs a repair (I can see a loose cog in the winding module), probably an easy fix but also ideal for your needs. If you would like to have it, PM me.

I don’t think you have a thing to worry about. The pressure pins I’ve seen are very well made and plenty strong. I have replacements but so far haven’t needed to use them. I’m pretty sure the ones in my 15 year old gen GMT are worn and will need replacing but that’s normal for a watch that old.

Is anyone else noticing this distortion is their VSF dial? It’s on both my LN & LV but not on the GMF. It’s as if the hour hand is pressing into it. The GMF dial is perfectly flat. I’ve seen this in other peoples post comparing them to gen and it’s a dead giveaway.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

It’s normal. Gens have it too.
