Since I have been on this board I have received two separate donations of RW 50$ for asking questions that I would have been burned for asking on other boards. Simply because the questions being mentioned would only paint a picture of the writer as being green or dim witted. As cliché as it sounds, I think the only stupid question is the question unasked and the other would be "what is square root of 156"-who cares. I thank you, board members, for you support in my learning about this wonderful and addicting hobby of ours. May we all see more gens in our future.

We are glad that you are happy here. :D

What you have mentioned is exactly what sets this board apart from the rest.

Sure it gets old sometimes, but everybody was a Noob at some point, asking the same noob questions. Someone has to answer them.

Stick around, and ask all the questions you want.

Sounds like you can rake it in asking goofy questions. :D Nice observation, and yes that was a kind thing to do.

here is my belief, the search function is a indispensable feature on all of the boards but if the info is outdated or you don't understand the info you have acquired you have to ask questions. when you do that i don't understand the smart ass responses. if those particular individuals don't want to help they don't need to post. it looks like to me it would be just as easy to answer the question. if they are offended by the fact someone had to ask they should just skip over the thread and go on to something they feel is worthy of their time.

enjoy the hunt man, that is where all of the fun is anyway! 8)

During a lecture (elec engineering) in my college days- prof at blackboard, furiously scribbling out solutions and working the slide rule... (yes, this was before calculators.... and most of my EE labs were with vacuum tubes, too!)
anyway, keeping a running commentary on what he was doing ..... "Ummm then square root of 4 point oh oh.... ummm, lessee, one point nine nine mmm... oh, call it two."
The class exploded with guffaws.

About 12.5
We're you able to that longhand helpful Pugs? LOL
Something that easy? Did it in my head.

Everyone knows 144 is 12x12 and that 169 is 13x13, right? It's easy enough to estimate 156 as about 12.5x12.5, isn't it?

As a matter of fact yes. Just not many people can crank out square roots in long hand anymore.

Mostly, they are used to enter RWI$ raffles that are held on the forum. Also, some members will take them for services, such as making you a signature.
