Sooo...Years ago I bought 2 replica Subs in Jakarta Indonesia. One is in the post "Your first replica watch" the other is here. They both sat in a drawer for years and recently peaked my interest. One remains unmodified the other appears below, my fist mod watch.
I decided to make my own version of the 6538. So I stripped the case, dropped the original etched crystal and chipped it so it has a replacement. Also purposely left a hair under the new crystal. (Just noticed it) I ground off the crown guards and polished the case, bleached the bezel and carefully scraped 2 lines off the type on the dial and repolished itl...Yes I scraped of a little of the "m" too. I used gold leafing varnish with a little bit of yellow pigment to age the dial markers. I also replaced the tired Miyota movement with a new one.
Oddly enough, of all my watches this garners the most compliments!
