Guys, please help to identify this dial.
It was sold to me as gen way back to at least 5 years ago in m2m. I dug out from my drawer when I bumped into this thread ;)and inspires me to proceed with 5513 build.
One thing for sure it is a service dial. The front looks gen to me but I can't be sure about the back of the dial though. Nothing as what they have discussed in this Rolex forum https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=568433 (need a register account to able to read). Appreciate your help. Many thanks

ckvintage Not a service dial, it’s a gen dial from 1984 or early 1985 at the latest. This is the first series of the WG surround dials I believe, produced shortly after the last maxi dials in 1983-84 and they share a very similar font style. The tritium markings at 6 o’clock and the dial writing would mean that even if it was a service dial, it was still produced 1984-85. Typically what one would consider ‘service dials’ for these WG 5513 dials would say either “Swiss” or “Swiss Made” but in theory, any dial series could have been used as a service replacement depending on when in history the watch was serviced

ckvintage Very neat... I love ZUBMARINER dials :)

Thanks

nicholasa1234 lawlessflyer Great news for me, it's a gen! Thank you for clarifying this. Now I'm dying to complete this project. Rather than cutting the dial feet, I will get someone (anyone can recommend?) to drill the movement instead (until I find a gen movement with a decent price).

tripdog can you help to analyze the dial please?

It's a genuine Rolex dial, there are only 3 versions of the gloss 5513. First 2 versions had open 6s, the last version had closed 6s. Service dials will generally have SWISS at 6 o'clock , so this is not a service dial, but is an example of one of the first open 6 dials, so probably from '84 - '86.
