The age of the Apple Watch is upon us

It has been said that the sophistication and user friendly interfacing of smart phones is making wrist watches obsolete. Now with the April 24th release date of the Apple Watch and the commentary throughout the technical landscape that the Apple Watch may actually cannibalize what makes iPhones and other devices so popular i.e. apps, what say my fellow members regarding the intrigue of the first new product since the death of Jobs? Will the Apple Watch be a force to contend with?

It's a shiny trinket, one which much like Apple themselves, I have no use for.

A very interesting read and blunt review of the new Apple Watch, see the video : http://www.theverge.com/2015/3/9/8176049/apple-watch-edition-vs-rolex-benjamin-clymer-interview ......... hmmmm, reminds me of the Electric cars introduce many years ago with the same pomp and flag waving, they now comprise about 1.2% of the motor cars on the road !!! ;) Oh, as a side note, even the $10,000 solid gold Apple Watch is also made in China !! :eek:hwell: Let us see how well it will be received.

It's too small... Better call Invicta and borrow a mold to make it "Clown Size"..

It is very un impressive. battery life is weak, not water proof, health tracking may be just a trend and serve no real function, and you still not only need a phone but need it to be close by.
But.... fix or improve on these things, like apple always does, and it will be a game changer like the ipod, iphone.

Apple is not Apple without PPC (PowerPC architecture)!

Oh man, please no!! I've been using Mac's since 2005, and I'm glad I'm working on the new Mac Pro now that looks like a trashcan with INTEL Xeon processor....!!! No more PowerPC for me :D

No watches I have to use a charger on......The phone is enough for messsages and calls....A watch is a watch...Wind it, put a battery in it every few years, or shake it up....but don't charge it

I'm in the minority in this forum, but I do have some interest in an Apple watch. Perhaps I should get one and report back on my experience. My major hangup is obsolescence: I'm on my third iPhone now (6) in about 7 years. I had a 3 and a 4s, both of which I kept for just over 3 years. By the time I was nearing the end of the 3 years, the 3 was just painfully slow and the 4s had lost a ton of battery life. And I'm no heavy user. So given that you're paying as much as a really nice rep to buy one, and it will be old and ready to throw out in 3 years, it's hard to justify.
