TC DWO falling Off

So I decided to start a new thread because I can't find an answer to my problems with the TC Sub I just received. I've modded a few watches and they have come out pretty decent but I this is the first time I've put together a gen spec Sub and I've made a couple mistakes. First, I squashed one side of the crystal gasket due to what I believe to be improper installation technique. I need a new gasket and I would appreciate some guidance on correct installation.

Second and most troubling, the DWO keeps falling off! I've opened the watch and realigned it Four times already. All looks good but when I try to advance the date in the time setting position it changes over nicely for three or four days then it no longer advances. I reset the crown, set the time outside the forbidden zone, go into manual date change position and it flips over but not completely. Open the watch again and I find the DWO has detached. The only thing that comes to mind is the jumper spring does not have the correct tension is is in the wrong position causing the overlay to dislodge. Any help is greatly appreciated because I just want to enjoy what is otherwise an awesome watch. No B.S. this is a great product TC has put out.

What are you using to attach it to the datewheel? I use hypo cement and have never experienced this.

GS Hypo cement is what I used and always use and I have never had this happen either that's whats so frustrating.

Either the tension spring or something is catching. You could try and new tension spring and a new datewheel. Could be some of the teeth.

U meant the overlay only that is coming off, and not the whole datewheel yeah?

Your problem is one that I have encountered.* In fact I want to write up a basic tutorial for dwo install on the 2824.* The issue is simple.* The 2824 datewheel is flat.* The 2836 dw is not flat and has a higher platform that rides above the level of the movement.* The flat 2824 dw literally sits below the level of the keyless works cover, I think it is part 462 in this link

When you attach the dwo, it rubs on that metal cover and dislodges the dwo.The 2836 does not have this problem since the elevation built into the actual datewheel lifts the dwo over this cover.

Solution – TC uses dial spacers to attach his dwo – I don’t like this, it makes it impossible to fine adjustMy solution, take a piece of sticky paper, such as any labels you can print on.* Cut a circle of it and attach it to the bottom of the dwo but only on the outer perimeter so that the inner perimeter is clear of anything. This elevates the dwo enough to clear the metal cover and solve your issue. I have pics of this from when I swapped a dwo recently, I will post them soon but you get the idea

I quite often find that arrangement on rolex GMT reps. Because the dial spacer is thicker to allow for the extra gearing the date would appear sunken. I've used an old datewheel in the past and trimmed the inner edge. Then this is glued on top of the regular datewheel and the DWO goes on top. Worked fine so far.

Excellent info about eta date wheels. You guys are awesome. I have had a dwo come unlodged from my 2846 eta, but I believe it was due to some crappy glue. I've tried to find gs hypo locally, but ended up using a loctite branded super glue. It is meant for jewelry like gs hypo, and gives you some time to get the dwo in position

Thanks rsh! And thanks guys for all the tips. I'm telling you I didn't know what I was missing with the TC sub. I own a Gen. 16613 and I tell you they look pretty close side by side.
