Tag Heuer service question...

So this exact thing happened to me on a Raymond Weil (1200 usd). I ended up taking it to a private independent shop and they were able to sort it out for 250. Mins wasn’t water damaged per say (it was exposed to a little rain) and the condensation and rusted the hands a bit so that was replaced and the entire movement was cleaned and put back together

This is why I stopped buying gens in the 2-5 k range, some reps are as good and cost less that a service!

I have a Carrera Calibre 5 gen. One day on holiday, I found it the crystal smashed and hands dislodged.

Repairs cost me 1300€ including a new croc strap. 🫣. I recently checked to get a steel bracelet 330€...

So yeah, no chance I will buy a Tag gen again.

Some of the prices being quoted in this thread are fascinating. I knew the prices were high across the board for some of the big watch houses, but I didn't realise they were this high. I have a genuine speedmaster from the early 2000's that cost me just shy of 500 GBP to get the full service done. I love this watch so I could justify the price, but I don't think I could bring myself to pay that if I didn't really love the watch. As many of you have already said, no wonder the rep world is getting more and more popular.

Hopefully it doesn't get too popular - Keep this secret place just for us!

some of these watch brands are making a killing when you need to service the watch. My Steinhart Ocean One servicing (after 18 years of use) cost me $130 and i didn't opt for polishing. Gnomon took 3 weeks to complete it. Watch is running +4s/day now

Yes I just purchased (on grey market) a gen Tag Heuer calibre 16 which included a service receipt (third party) for almost a third of the service price, just crazy
