I'm seriously considering going gen instead... Should I rather get this in gen? A used one might be around 1700€.

If you love it I would go gen for many reasons, one being financial as you say a grey market one is an affordable priced and will reasonably hold its value if you do sell it in a few years. Whereas rep price is very high and if sold I doubt it would go for half the new price.

I loved the GF SOHII 42mm except I felt it was a little small so I ended up going gen in the 46mm and couldn’t be happier with it. As good as the reps can be a gen that catches you gets a lot more wrist time.

Definitely would go gen if rep is 30 to 40% the cost of genuine.

One year ago I bought a rep of it on dhgate for about 140 USD.
it's a decent rep! But bezel is sadly not unidirectional So try looking there!
