Can anyone explain or point me in the direction where I can read on my own what the difference is between Swiss ETA 2824-2 movement and Swiss ETA 2836-2 movement? I have done some looking for the answer on this site as well as RWG and Rep Geek and I can't really find a clear answer. I am looking to buy a Steelfish and the price difference is about $80 and I am wondering if it is worth it or not. Also I am curious to know if the actual motion of the automatic movement when compared to one another if there is a real difference?

Outside of the price difference and the movement all the specs on these watches are the same. Here is the link to the site if anyone is interested.

I don't recall ever seeing a price difference this large between the 2824 and 2836 movements unless one was "Swiss" and the other a clone.
There are upgrades to the 2836 over the 2824, mainly to run the day function on watches which run a day function in addition to the date.
The overall reliability and beat rate is the same, so I'm not sure I would choose the 2836 in a watch which lacks a day window - especially at this price.

Thanks for the quick response guys. This is exactly the kind of info I was looking for. Looks like I will be picking up the less expensive model.

Just confirm that he is selling a Swiss 2824 and not an Asian 2824 for that price difference.
The pricing would make more sense to me, and it may just be an incorrect listing on his part. Either movement is good - you just want to make sure you know what you are getting.

BTW - October 2009 and here local? Where've you been hiding, brackdaddy? I try to keep up with all us North Texans.

My wife wears my SOSF and it is a very impressive watch. It is about 95%+ accurate to the gen. I bought 2 (her best friend fell in love with it and wanted one too) with ETA (confirmed by my watch smith) movements from Hont, and they both have been flawless.
Don't be fooled by the fact that my very petite wife wears it - this is one serious chunk of steel on the wrist. You'll love this watch!

Don't be a stranger!

Generally the difference in price of the two movements only around 10 dollars. But like you said may just be an incorrect listing, hopefully.
