Perhaps this thread is starting to get off track - I'm sure noone meant to offend.

But if I were that kid caught licking the pig I certainly would be pissed when I hit about 17 yo and could not get laid. :D

You know what they say about opinions... Suffice it to say that when the planes hit the towers and Pentagon I was already knee deep in shit and things went down hill from there. So to tell me about observing a great loss of life is a total waste of your time.
Its not that I dont appreciate the loss of those who were there (both the living and the dead). But if they are going to run to the hospital claiming PTSD when a plane flys too low they obviously have issues besides PTSD! And they probably had them well before September 11, 2001

I was watching across the river having my lunch from my truck after finishing my route in West NY. You know exactly where I am coming from I am sure, and yeah I understand the point you are making also. I was very lucky to have people I know make it out on time. Sensitive subject is all. Nothing personal.

isnt that a scary thought...swine flu.

i saw people runnimg around with dust masks today in a safeway. not to get infected, i guess.

they get upset if a kid licks a little piglet.

but then they go home and put their tongue into output organs..... which also helps not to get infected, or so.

crazy.

TAGfan...if efforts started today on a vaccine for exactly this virus how long before I have the hundred-foot line of old folks outside my pharmacy lined up, panicking, for their
swine flu shot?
We tried to help ramp up demand a few years ago (when the bird flu scare came along)
by encouraging people to get regular yearly flu shots, thereby increasing demand, thereby
making .....your company?.....increase production capacity.

By the way, Mr ZoSo, nice nod to a bit of SwanSong history by using the cover of The Pretty Things' "Savage Eye" as your avatar.

Kind of off topic-

I am Legend is a remake/adaptation of The Omega Man (1971 film w/ C. Heston). The Omega Man was based off of a 1950's Sci Fi Novel entitled I am Legend. I believe there are others versions out there as well. The best of them being The Omega Man....I think.

I think there was a version before Omega man called "The last man on Earth"
Legend was pretty decent, til the end. NOTHING like the book ending. Hes not a legend in the book like he is in the movie.

Some swine flu reading for ya.

Fooled You Once

PREFACE

This 1976 booklet on Swine Flu hazards and fakery is part of a larger book on vaccination, titled, VACCINATION CONDEMNED BY COMPETENT DOCTORS. It is about time a large and comprehensive book of the long concealed facts about vaccination is brought forth. This is the largest and most informative book on the subject ever written in America. It contains data collected from medical records, army reports, and startling findings from researchers all over the world.

The book is intended to help combat the disastrous effects of vaccine promoters and their deceptive propaganda.

I have seen cancers caused by vaccinations, on the arms of people, exactly where the vaccine was injected. I have also seen paralysis and other tragedies caused by vaccinations. All these are unnecessary and avoidable by the application of information contained in the chapters of this book.

It will be noted that there are many repetitions of certain facts all through the book. There are two reasons for this. One is that some chapters are used as separate booklets like the chapter on SWINE FLU. The other reason is that the wrong information about vaccination has been drilled into the people from early childhood, so it is necessary to repeat the truth many times in order to re-program the thinking from false claims to the truth.

Truth wears no mask, she seeks neither place nor applause, bows to no human shrine; she only asks a hearing."----Anon

CHAPTER 1: SWINE FLU ANOTHER MEDICALLY-MADE EPIDEMIC

"Take the profit out of the manufacture and administration of serums and vaccines and they would soon be condemned even by those who are now using them"—George Starr White M D

At the present writing, October 1976 a group of medical opportunists have taken upon themselves the dictatorial authority to declare the threat of a sweeping epidemic of SWINE FLU which they said was similar to or related to the 1918 epidemic of Spanish influenza which wiped out 20,000,000 people world-wide This declaration was supposed to scare all the people into their vaccination centers to be shot full of experimental vaccine poisons, while they, the promoters, raked in the profits During the big polio vaccine drive, a spokesman for ParkeDavis one of the five drug houses making the vaccine stated "Our company will clear over $10,000,000 on Salk vaccine in 1955 " Before they were through they had fleeced the people of over $4 billion dollars on the Salk racket (See the chapter on POLIO CAUSED BY VACCINATION)

Oh, good grief.

I'd say yes, the swine flu is being way over-hyped. But if they were able to come out with a vaccine, I'd take it just the way I get a flu shot every year. Not because I'm convinced that the flu will kill me. But primariily because it sucks to have the flu.

I was unfortunate enough to catch a portion of Oprah the other day when my roommate was watching. They were hyping MRSA, which apparently rots people's parts off and kills on contact. What they fail to mention is that in some communities (mine included), MRSA is the cause of over half of the skin infections. And all of those people are not dead or incredibly deformed. And they'd REALLY scare people if they were to tell them that a ton of them are silently harboring MRSA in their nostrils. People would start trying to nuke their noses right and left.

Sheesh.

Its not a quick thing to do. The old way of making the vaccine is injecting antigens into chicken eggs and then working from there. There are newer ways, but the system is already taxed making vaccines for the normal flu every year.

There just aren't enough large scale vaccine producers out there. Sanofi Pasteur and Medimmune are two of the biggest, but Medimmune's vaccine is a nasal spray, and it can't be given to kids or the elderly because it contains 'live' flu virus, and may end up in an infection. Its an expensive proposition, and despite what many say, the profits take quite a while to catch up to what companies like mine spend on the R&D for a vaccine.

Actually, I just found a good story that describes some of it for you. Says that researchers are trying to have some protection for the swine flu in next year's flu vaccine. I guess they are having problems though, because the bug grows slowly in eggs.

Is that for wiping down surfaces or your hands? Because for hands, soap and water work perfectly well too.

Surfaces. No skin. Agree that soap and water is great for hands. Sing 'Happy Birthday' as you go to get the contact time right.

Seriously? Of all of the potentially songs Chlorox could pick, why are we wishing the viruses a happy birthday? Is it like the ninetieth birthday of the Spanish Influenza epidemic?

The CDC estimates that about 36,000 people died of flu-related causes each year, on average, during the 1990s in the United States. Did any of us care?

Rest assured there is no need to worry about swine flu because the current administration will take care of us. It is very comforting knowing this and the brilliant advice last night from the Prez himself, "cover your mouth and wash your hands."

Brilliant!
