I've seen people post that before. I'm not 100% sure, but I would think that doing that mod would not work. All you're doing it changing the amount of "ticks" per second, but all the teeth in the geartrain are set for 8bps. I would assume that if those same gears are now only advancing 6 times per second instead of 8... the watch will run slowly.

The example I used last time was the difference between the 6497-1 and 6497-2. Everything from the barrel to hairspring is different becasue of the change in beat.

Sorry for repeating myself on the above post. I was in such a hurry that I didn't realize I've already mentioned that other post.

Your point makes a lot of sense to me, but couldn't that be compensated by the adjustment screw?

I mean, what 2 ticks per second or 86,400 ticks per day would mean in terms of time delayed?

Actually the difference is 7200 ticks per day. 28,800-21,600. Which equates to 20 minutes behind a day. The problem wtih properly regulating, its that the timegrapher will show it running accurately because a machine doesn't know that the gears have too many teeth.

Thanks for clarifying that, I thought 2 beats per second would've been multiplied by the total seconds in a day.

Anyway, 8 to 6 = 25% less beats a day = 20-minute delay

Assuming I don't have access to a timegrapher, I would than have the trouble of adjusting it based on trial/error turnings of the adjustment screw, right?

Alright, here's a pic of the semi-skeleton dial.
I can't tell if all parts are there for the date wheel function, and also I'm not sure if they're completely visible without decasing/ disassembling it all.
