Can this be done?

*Note* links send you to Puretime's respective listings to each watch.

I'm looking to do this on JF's v9.5 AP Royal Oak Offshore Diver 15703.

JF offers the 15710 AP Royal Oak Offshore Diver in the MIYOTA 9015 (I believe particularly for looks). But is not the 9015 movement much better than A2824? As far as I have heard, it is.

Looking to hear from people experienced with both movements. Been on my mind all week.

No, the miyota is a workhorse and no better than the a2824. There is no reason to swap the movements, better is to switch the a2824 for an eta 2824-2, better still is to have some parts added to the eta and convert it to low beat

Huh, interesting. I personally like the smooth sweeping hand so high beat would stay but thanks for the input! I was torn on which to go with but I really love the 15703 with the solid case back & it's considered a super rep, so I was open to the idea of swapping to the MIYOTA 9015 movement. Guess there's no need for that. Thanks!!

Miyota 9015 has a smaller stem height (1.5mm vs 1.8mm on the 2824) so there would be issues on a direct swap.

Stem height is the distance from center stem to dial seat. The Miyota stem hole would be above the tube hole, not compatible in the same case. You could add a thicker dial spacer, but that takes away canon pinion height for hands and will make datewheel look sunken and overmagnifed if there's a cyclops involved.

The miyota is a very basic movement, I've sold all the miyota watches I've had, never liked them.

The eta is a much better bet. I converted mine to low beat because it matches the beat rate of the gen. Completely unnecessary but I had a couple of spare movements to swap the parts over.

The A2824 is the one to go for, get your hands on a used gen ETA2824 and you will have the best
